Been hearing this commercial on the radio about a tent sale they’re doing in Montgomery. Anyone ever bought these? I would assume the quality is terrible. I thought it may be worth it to get some and just grind it into burger if it was wasn’t worth grilling.

They are usually select grade. Prime, choice, select. I wouldn't buy
any steak less than choice.

You can't make a hamburger with 80/20 for $1.50. Beware.

actually it is called No Roll Beef-- this is from TAMU but it's accurate https://meat.tamu.edu/files/2018/10/Understanding-USDA-beef-quality-grades.pdf

A term used to describe beef that has not been graded by the USDA. Beef carcasses graded by the USDA have a grading stamp rolled on the exterior fat of the carcass to identify the grade of the meat. Carcasses not graded have no USDA rolling stamp, hence the name “No-Roll”.

Yes that's what it's called in the meat order guides when I had grocery stores. I never would order it even at 3.99 for ribeyes

Dollar Tree sells thin ribeyes for $1 and I've fried them up and they good. Works good for a philly cheese steak or steak biscuits.

It's usually select beef and they sell by the Portion not by weight. Go buy you a good steak somewhere else.

Buy no roll when beef/ribeye prices are down. They will throw more quality beef in the no roll box. Why pay to have it graded when it's cheap and the demand for choice/prime isn't there and flood the market even more. And always buy no roll over select cause you know you are getting at least select grade beef and it's cheaper per lb.

This is just my experience with box beef from Ibp, National, Excel, and Greater Omaha. On average a 5 loin case will have a couple decent loins, a couple of good loins and 1 trash. That's the only way I've ever bought/sold ribeye outside of a grocery store that already has them cut to grade for yourself.
