Boys it is DRY! Hope your plots get some rain. I’m up at my farm and considering feeding my wheat by throwing it on the ground in December. Heck it will have to lay in the ground now and the dang birds will scratch it out. Might as well feed them in the winter. Worked In several plots of turnips and wheat. May do some AWPs tomorrow. You know it’s dry when you make dust trails walking while hand seeding. Think I am gonna drill the AWPs and wheat. 40% chance of rain Monday. May get a dew!!

Question: any of you sowed the winter peas? Did you inoculate them first

I don't know Perch personally but I figured he, james, outback, or wiley would come up in this thread.

Thanks for the compliment. It has taken 50 years to be called that. Up until now everyone always told me i was a slow learner.

glad I put out a wheat and red clover mix instead of Bob oats and white clover this year to save money. In southern Missouri we have had about 1/2 inch of rain and Ave temps above 95 for 3 weeks it seems. Working on a different farm Monday that I put off cause of the weather. Hope this planting gets off to a better start.

on a brighter note. This weather sure has helped get the moisture levels down in the corn. About everything should be picked even after the late start.

I think about this every year and just can't make it work cost-effectively. Maybe in southern Alabama I would but my frosts just come too early. However, I do plant fall beans. Seems like if I call around in the fall one of the suppliers or CO-OPs will have some damaged bags or leftovers extremely discounted. And there is no way I would ever use bin run beans(wink, wink).

27 August was the last measurable rain and that was just a few tenths here at the KY retreat (that’s Kentucky for you weirdos)

I plant them heavy every year, and love them. The deer get on them early, and they never last, but while the deer are hammering on them everything else seems to have a chance to get established.

I live in North East KY and we had so much rain up until two months ago . Now it is hot and dry with water holes drying up fast . The ground is hard as a rock .
