Not many bigger pieces of sheet around. Coaching ability is insane though. I concur. That's what is so concerning about him recruiting with the ability to legally pay players. CA always has to screw things up.

USC is about to hire a real AD instead of a celebrity figurehead, then hire Urban and within five years they'll be in the title game. Within 10 they'll be on probation again.

Maybe, but I think this legislation could be the end of the NCAA and possibly college football as we know it. I heard on the radio that a few other states are already drafting similar legislation. Surprisingly SC was one of them. Dabo doesnt want to be usurped

I must be missing something. Just because Cali says it is OK to pay players it is still a violation of NCAA rules isn't it, or do the Cali legislators think they control the NCAA too?
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I must be missing something. Just because Cali says it is OK to pay players it is still a violation of NCAA rules isn't it or do the Cali legislators think they control the NCAA too? Exactly. What is being thrown about, is that if California does this and they start paying players, then the institution will no longer be under the umbrella of the NCAA. That means no NCAA tournament, No Bowl Games, No possible trips to the College World Series. If paying players is more important than than making millions by being in these post season events.......then knock yourself out. You can be California State Champs every year.

While I agree with this currently, I do think more states will follow suit. When the big money colleges start going this way, I think it's going to be the NCAA that bites the dust. I don't think this pay for play argument is going away any time soon

College football is now the minor league for the NFL. It left us common fans years ago.
Yep. And if the NCAA allows players to get paid for playing an amateur sport then I’m out. Professional sports has become nothing more than reality TV soap operas. Money ruins more than it helps. I paid for ALL of my college education without being offered a free daily buffet, clothing, stipend, free tutors, and all the other perks that come from playing a sport well. I think we have spoiled several generations of athletes because of our love for the game. If colleges follow this semi pro route they’re about to take, then I’m out.
GO NOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And California has now added Iowa as a state that they won't visit on public money.. That makes Alabama and Iowa. How many more will they add?

California is doing this in part to get the NCAA in court, similar to other hot-button societal issues in the last couple of years.
IMO while there are some who believe players should be able to make money off their image and likeness, I suspect the bigger group in Cali believes the NCAA needs to be "held accountable" or broken up, like a monopoly of sorts. To do that they're pushing the issue with this legislation and when the NCAA smacks a team or player for trading photos and gear or signing autographs at Stinky Pete's Fine Suit Emporium in exchange for clothing, Cali will take them into court.
Also, California is just being California.
