All it will take is someone shopping in a store to get bit by a so called "emotional support" animal and this will go the other direction very quickly. Alexander Shunnarah, Mike Slocumb and all the other ambulance chasers you see on TV will be chomping at the bits to get on something like this.

Some of this is just insane, but my dad was having some agitation due to his Dementia / Alzhiemer's would only settle down when his lapdogs would sit with him. They do work under certain circumstances. But some of these idiots just need their head examined.

BPI that's great that they would settle your dad down as most of our pets do but we don't carry them out to shopping and much less to a restaurant to eat. What the hell happens to health code and safety. Looney tunes. Bet they use hand sanitizer like it's lotion by the bottles.

girl I knew in college (I hesitate to call her a "friend", more an "acquaintance") went online and somehow registered her azzhole miniature schnauzer as a "service dog". Vest and all. She was bats**t crazy, but she didn't need a service animal, she just wanted to be able to take the dog everywhere she went. And she'd be the first one to tell you that. this was ~15yrs ago, IIRC.

I'm guilty. I took my chocolate lab Buck to the camp one weekend. We stopped in Pine Hill for lunch on the way home. It was HOT outside and I didn't want to leave him in a running truck for 1/2 an hour in Pine Hill (had a trailer hooked up so couldn't park in the door where I could watch the truck.). Asked the waitress if we could bring him in and he'd lay down beneath the table in the back. Offered to sweep up if he shed any. She was fine with it. He laid down and didn't make a peep. Gave him my cornbread muffin after. My son was scandalized. Told me I was turning into my mother (who also had a pair of service dogs, although the first one of those was certified).

It's their right to have an emotional support dog if they choose, but IMHO their right to bring it in places should be restricted to where they are welcomed/allowed.

Yes, it's out of hand. badly. Yes I recognize the irony in MY saying that in light of the above related story.

That is not a support animal. That is a service animal and there is a big difference that is recognized by law. Service animals are highly trained and certified for the function they perform. A support animal is owned be a loon that wants attention. I don't buy the pony on a plane story. They have to allow service animals, but not support animals. Now, if it was a seeing eye horse..........

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

The horse story was legit.........it was reported by many/most of the major "legitimate" news sources. The woman claims to have PTSD (doesn't say why) and is allergic to dogs.

A dad of one of my wife's students (few years ago) here has one. He's ex-military and suffers from ptsd. His IS NOT a bs service dog. It's legit. The dog i inherited from my mom after she died thinks she's an emotional service animal. smile She can tell when i'm agitated/angry and if i sit still for even a minute, she's up in my lap getting as close to me as she can. It's really uncanny. She's not like that during times when it's just a normal day. But i ain't gonna call her a service dog and carry her everywhere either!

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

That story begs the question; which one is the clown?

I need a 28 year old, busty blonde Swedish masseuse for emotional support when I travel for business and go the the hunting camp. I'll run that by the wife tonight and see what she thinks.

I have an emotional support cooler. My wife keeps it filled with cold beer and an occasional bottle of whiskey. My nerves are just fine.
