I was in bed from working night shift. Woke up and turned the computer on to check AlDeer. Saw it on the AOL main page and cut the TV on just before the second tower collapsed.

I was in Sanford Florida on a construction job working nights. My parents called and woke me up just before the second plane hit. My roommate and I woke up all the other guys that were working with us and everyone eventually wound up in our room watching.

I was living in upstate New York two hours north of NYC watching Fox news. Back when Steve Doucy was a weatherman,,Brian Kilmeade the sports guy.
Saw the first plane footage and knew it was an attack. Then they were showing the damage from the first plane when the second one hit. I remember the second plane coming in and a reporter saying "OMG theres another one". Everyone knew then it was no accident. Sad, sad day for sure.

I was sitting in history class junior year of high school. We had not quite gotten started for the day when another history teacher next door popped his head in to ask my teacher if she saw the news about the WTC being hit by a plane. At that moment he and all of us thought it was just someone flying a personal plane or something, but within minutes it was obvious this was a major event and deliberate. The rest of the day was pretty somber and most of us were terrified because the school had to communicate with all teachers and students the plan for evacuation should Browns Ferry Nuclear be targeted and hit. I think it was in the top 10 sites in the US or something.
One of the most memorable things I have from high school came out of 9/11 though, our teacher in the days after assigned us all a project to make a journal/timeline of the events using newspaper articles along with our own written opinions of what was happening. I still have it today and from time to time will go back over to look at it and read the newspaper clippings I glued into the journal and the things I wrote down. It's a great way to remind myself of the price paid by so many civilians, first responders, police, firemen, etc. It's odd feeling because my generation will be the last one that has memories of 9/11 and where we were.

I was at work. A guy came in the shop telling us about the first plane. I scolded him telling him that wasn’t funny. We spent the rest of the morning watching the news. Saw the second plane hit the tower live on tv.
