I was working a remodel of a big office building in downtown Huntsville. We had JB&B on the radio when they said something about a small plain hitting a building. Within minutes the real story started to break. Folks were crying on the sidewalks. Every store you went into had a TV on and the radio stations had coverage on ever channel. Flags went up everywhere and places were sold out of smaller TVs.

God Bless America

I was sitting at my desk with the TV on in the background on CNN. I looked up and saw the coverage starting. Then I walked out of my office to tell my secretary to come watch what was happening we walked back in my office right as the second plane hit. I was suppose to pick up a client at the airport for a mediation about 11 that morning. She was flying in from New York and I could get her on the phone and didn’t even know if her plane took off. Finally talked to her a few days later and found out she was in the airport boarding when they pulled them off the plane.

Have a friend that worked in the towers. He made it out with his office mates. He went left, they went right he was the only one that survived.

I got to my office that morning at 5:30 just like everyday. Went into the break room and put on the coffee and turned the TV on. Went out to the warehouse and was sending out crews for about an hour and a half. My wife called and asked me if I had seen or heard about what was happening. I said no so I went to the break room and everybody was in there watching it as it all unfolded. I was mad and sick to my stomach all at the same time. 9/11 was our Pearl Harbor. Being a young child during and having a family member fight in Vietnam plus the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut, the USS Cole just a few things that come to mind the enemy had hit our country.

Was on my way to work sitting at a red light in Homewood, AL about to get on Red Mountain Expressway when it first came on the radio. Got to work in downtown Birmingham and we found an old black and white TV and plugged it in and watched the news coverage. I was on the 7th floor of the Regions Tower downtown and my office faced the NE looking towards the BHM airport. They had cancelled all commercial air traffic so no planes were in the air. Later in the morning I watched a couple of fighter jets and a 747 come over downtown and land at the BHM airport. Later found out that it was either the President or VP's plane stopping to refuel as they kept them moving until the threat had been sorted out.

Say what you want to about Bush, but I still get chills when I see him climb on that rubble with the fire fighters and shouted in the bull horn "and the people who knocked down these buildings will hear all of us soon". A few other things that seared in my memory - the courage of the Americans on the flight that went down in the field in PA "LET"S ROLL". Also, the pictures of the people fleeing the towers in NY and NY First Responders running to the towers into harm's way.

I was stationed in Guam at Andersen AFB, got the call about 1 am...anyone in the military knows when you get a recall notification for exercise everyone is dragging arse...not this day, people were running to work...48 hours later I was finally off shift. Shame on anyone who questions the veracity of this event.

Had just gotten off from working night shift. Stopped at the store to pick up a few groceries and when I got back in the truck, the news was on and talking about a small plane hitting the tower. I got home and my wife was getting ready to go to school at South. I turned the TV on and saw what was really going on. I grabbed my pistol and went and put it in the wife's car and told her not to be afraid to use it (no one at the time knew what kind of crap was going on). I grabbed a rifle, laid on the couch and watched as everything was unfolding that day.

Had driven from Columbus to Opelika to the office, there I saw what was happening and drove back home and watched what was happening. The utter sadness and helplessness was over whelming.

Studying for a test. I was a senior at UAB. Called my wife (then girlfriend), she had just come off a 12 hour night shift at the hospital.

I was at my office on aldeer when the posts about the planes hitting the world trade center started coming in. Several of us went to the meeting room and watch the tragedy unfold on TV. After that day the stockmarket tanked, Solutia stock went to nothing, and they laid a bunch of us off 6 weeks later. I thought it was the end of my world but then I thought about the sacrifices of all those in new York and the pentagon and Pennsylvania and their families.

I was sitting on my front porch talking to a hunting buddy in Florida. We were talking about deer hunting in Georgia and he was inside his house watching TV. He saw the first plane hit, told me to get inside and turn on the TV, and, before he hung up, said we were under attack.

Senior year HS Calculus class. Someone came into class and pulled the teacher out in the hall to tell her about the first plane hitting. The teacher came back in and turned the tv on, and for the rest of the day, in every class, we watched the coverage.

Was heading to work when the first one hit. Then walked in the office in time to see the second one hit on TV.

Mr.Fosters 8th grade History class. They rolled the tv cart into our room and 5 minutes after turning on the tv, the second plane hit.
