What a cluster. I have not seen such a screw up since Kay Ivey and aldot spent 60 million on testing, condemning, and permits before the bridge was ever approved.

The government just can’t get out of their own way,

I don’t know if Chuck is fully responsible for this. He surely doesn’t claim it. But he certainly could have provided better judgment to legislators.

I went online to get my HIP and entered my birthday, which flips me to the over 65 page. I thought a resident over 65 wasn't charged for a license, but it appears there is now a charge. I have a lifetime, so it doesn't affect me, but did I miss them changing the law on this?

second box down looks like its saying once you turn 65 they still want $35 to issue you a lifetime license that covers everything. appears to be a one time fee. I dont really see why they have the optional stuff listed below it the second box clearly says hunting/fresh/saltwater fishing etc... maybe if you just wanna make a donation or they are hoping some seniors will screw up and accidentally buy a bunch of licenses they don need just trying to get a bait permit.

Man, I’d drive from South Carolina to “referee” that match between Outback and Chuck.

It does irk me a good bit to know that I will have to buy the non resident baiting license to hunt the 20 acres I own in Bama just because I’m not sure if the locals have thrown out corn on it. The neighboring land owners will be baiting from what I hear.... That’s in addition to the high non resident hunting license I’ll pay to hunt the land I pay taxes on. It’s a straight up money grab from the state. One that I hope will bite them in the ass.

If the locals wasn't baiting it before I doubt anything will change but if they have been baiting it in the past at least you have a get out of jail free card where in the past it would have been a ticket no questions asked didn't matter who put it out.

No way I would buy one if I was not gonna bait. I would fight that ticket all day.

I guess you are correct. My brain doesn't work like the guvment would like it too I reckon. It's a no brainer , if it's optional they ain't getting a cent from me. Don't even know why they would think anyone would pay when they don't have to.

EDIT: I downloaded the digest and after reading it I think you are right, and even the duck stamp is not required. I have no idea why they worded it this way.

Thanks for trying to help us figure it out, but I don't think that's right. I think "optional" here just means that it isn't required to complete the transaction. Look at the Optional State Duck Stamp for $11 that I did buy. If you wanna hunt ducks, that ain't optional and you will get a ticket if you hunt without one. So is the Optional WMA license.
It looks like to me that these licenses are required if you want to carry out that activity, but again, maybe I don't understand something. I didn't make a picture of everything, but there were other places that offered the chance to make various donations, and it labeled them as donations. Also, there is nothing that says any of these licenses are good the rest of your life.

Yes he did say those things.

Interesting reading here. I bought my Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License in 1989. I retired in 2015 and I turned 65 in 2016. There are 2 things I will never do again:

Buy another hunting license for Alabama.

Take another piss test.

Our land is clearcut. There are't many places that won't
have a feeding area that can't be seen from a tree.
I'm 70 yrs. old, hunting family land. And I bought one
of the worthless pieces of paper. I've bought a license
for 49 years (16 - 65).
Now you goobers done got me mad.
I'm returning it for a refund and when Outback
gets him on the ground, I'll kick the Chuckster
right squarely in the ass.
After putting up with" brain dead legislators,"Do
Nothing DA's," and "couldn't care less" judges"
I"ve just about had my fill. Don't worry about Lee
county, they don't have the time nor inclination
to waste on game laws and fines.
Y'all done created a monster, here!

One more thing--on the cwd disease.
In speaking with a neurologist, it was pointed
out that CWD and Mad Cow disease could
possibly lead to Creutzfieldt-Jacobs disease
through mutation of the prions. CJ is the
equivalent of these in humans.
Now don't ax me no questions, cause I don't

But that Senior Lifetime license costs $35. The other "optional" licenses expire in a year, so it looks like those are annual licenses that anyone over 65 must buy if you don't have a lifetime license. But as you said, the state law is that over 65 doesn't need a license.

Edit: I downloaded the digest and it looks like nothing has changed. I still don't know what the $35 license is for, and I found a section that says over 65 has to have a Federal duck stamp, but not the state. I bought the $11 stamp, and didn't need it. I guess that is what they were hoping would happen when they listed them like this.
