Nice. What part did you go to? At the dam?

Below the dam yes, fly rod no. Talked to a couple fly fishermen who had been catching fish regularly, some big fish. Ive fished up there for 25yrs every now and then, ive never saw a trout as big as I caught today come out of the water, I knew they were there but I had never seen one caught. Monday I saw two men tote 10 of them out of there, all 2 1/2-3lb. They showed me how and where and by golly it worked. My uncle had 3 on as big as what I caught but he lost all three of them. The two I caught made some pretty good size fillets. My wifes gona fry them this evening. Pretty good day, thanks to those two fellows I met monday.

I've always wanted to do this. Assume a spinning rod then? Any insights as to bait and technique?

TIA

Impressive! I've never caught any fresh water trout. Some day I wanna go to North AL and catch a trout and a smallmouth.

By co worker said he read somewhere that Alabama stocked it recently with larger trout. Guess your picture is proof of that.

A guy up there showed me the email about the release. I couldnt tell you whether or not there were any more in there than normal. I do know there were plenty of big ones in there a few days ago though. Theres 12miles of river they can live in. I dont know how long it would take them to disperse. It rises quick and moves on pretty fast when the turbines come on. I would imagine that could spread em out pretty quick.

I need to take my son up there. He caught some wild trout in NC on his fly rod all by himself

Nice ones! They have a decent population in the lower Saluda that the state keeps stocked. Caught one about that size last time I went floating. Gonna have to go again before it gets too cold.
