Bulls Eye Shellac will help prevent that.

the color may not bleed thru but the texture will show under the paint eventually

We've never really had a problem. But we also apply 3 coats of primer & 3 coats of Finish a lot shops don't do that. I'll tell what is really hard now days, finding quality wood, we probably send more back than we keep.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

We have stained maple. New last year. My only complaint is it seems soft. Some screws are pulling out too easy imo.

I tried telling this to an apartment complex that wanted to renovate 100 apartments with MDF cabinets they did not listen after the hinges started breaking off and the board started swelling from moisture after only doing about 25 of them they changed thier minds real fast and went with plywood instead. MDF is the cheapest crap you can build anything out of and I dam sure wouldnt invest a few thousand dollars into kitchen cabinets made out of it.
