The mountain bike thread got me thinking. I didn’t realize there would be guys here that liked bicycles so much. I guess I always had an idea that mount biking was sorta like a tree hugger activity. That being said, I have toyed with the idea of a canoe for a few years now. Last winter, I got a steal of a deal on a 14’ MadRiver. I have really enjoyed it and wish I’d gotten it much sooner. I kind of always thought I was too big for a canoe, but now realize what they are capable of. I like paddling in general and paddled about 6 miles of flat water yesterday, but what I really like is canoe camping. It’s like backpacking except you don’t have to carry your gear and you don’t have to watch your pack weight so much. Best part is my kids love it. They bought their own kayaks with their summer working money.

Past couple of weekends a buddy and I floated about 6 hours down a few creeks fishing.Absolute blast. We're planning an overnight trip when the weather gets a little cooler. Yeah I’m ready for the leaves to fall. What area are y’all going to camp? I wouldn’t dare get in a kayak, but I don’t mind canoing through winter.

I like bass boat camping no paddling involved. I’ll do that too, but I like slipping upon these creeks.

Trail Life. I figured we would try it and my son will occasionally go. One of the best decisions I ever made. We both love it.

Buddy of mine did a 4 or 5 day Canoe trip down the Mississippi River a few years ago. Think they left out of somewhere near Vicksburg. Looked awesome but I just dont know about getting on that river in a canoe.

Trail running
When we lived in Phoenix in 1994 I started jogging each evening after work before dinner. Had a 3- to 5-mile route in the 'hood and was doing great. Returned home for work and basically stopped until I started back walking and light jogging in 2012.
Got into trail running three or so years ago and love it. I'm not fast, I don't "run" like the speed goats but it's kinda like being a kid in the woods again.
I need to get a good bike but it's still not on the agenda just yet. Soon, though.

Yeah I’m ready for the leaves to fall. What area are y’all going to camp? I wouldn’t dare get in a kayak, but I don’t mind canoing through winter. Not really sure yet. There are a ton of creeks around with good areas to put in and get out. Past two trips we did sections of Oakmulgee that were really good floats. I caught a 3.5-4# largemouth in about 1' of water with an ultralight. You can't beat that. I'd really like to put in and make an overnight trip all the way to the Cahaba to take out.
