Does brass have a shelf life? I was going through a box of old reloading supplies and came across about 100-125 spent brass hulls for my Savage 300. I checked the brass real good and didn't see any that was stretched or fatigued. I resized all of it and started cleaning it. I have no idea how many time any of it has been shot. Considering how hard it is to get Savage 300 brass is it worth the risk to try and reload it?

Send it!

Neck sizing only for brass that is dedicated to a specific gun will increase the life of the brass. Look for neck splitting or shoulder cracks as the brass gets loaded more. Head separation can be an issue but usually more common in magnum calibers.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

My stepdad gave me his guns and reloading equipment about 15 years ago.I started reloading about 10 years ago. I thought I had gone through all of his stuff til last week. The Savage 300 he gave me is a tack driver inside 100 yards. The brass is hard to come by so it was a pleasant surprise to find it in a tote container found again in the attic. The brass itself is old and tarnished. I resized to remove spent primers. Does anyone have a favorite recipe for a Savage 300? I have 125, 150-168 grain bullets to use.

I buy a lot of my loading stuff from this place. Low prices and quick turn-around. He has some in stock.

If you anneal the brass it will prolong the life. I would also sort it by weight.

The Savage 99 ain't the strongest of actions so tread easy. I'd think 4064 rl 15 4895 for 2600 fps in the 150s.

Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.
