I teach and during the summer for something to do I paint and power wash. I cleared over 12,000 last summer and that was not working everyday. I have people pay me in cash.

Well at least you make up for it when it’s cold. I would assume. Dang that’s cold.

When it's cold I don't use the AC, or the heater. I'm good with somewhere around 50 degrees inside the house.

I'm already mowing 18 acres every 6 to 8 days and don't get paid a dime. 😕

Good friend of mine owns a handyman business. He is booked out months in advance.

if you could do chain link fence work youd have plenty of work. Some of the fence guys ive been trying to find to do a job are 2-3 months out.

I know 2 guys who do grass cutting and weed eating. They dont get into landscaping etc but they will knock down 20k a season.

Figure out the 5 things people in your area don't want to do around their homes, especially in summer. That might include mowing, weeding flower beds, cleaning gutters, being a handyman or whatever.

Figure out the two or three things you can do well out of those five, and if it doesn't cost you much money for tools-equipment or other stuff, even better. See what your competition is on those things. Pick one and start your side business.

I see a ton of yard cutting folks in our neighborhood almost year-round. They come and go like fireflies. The ones I most often see have professional gear, clean trucks and trailers, crews that aren't dressed like homeless people and are visible in bright (like, neon) shirts, and they do a great job. The yards look great, gates are closed, edges look great, and the clippings are not blown out into the street -- as if that makes them magically disappear.

I have miserably failed to meet your standards for yard workers.

If I'm paying someone to do our yard -- which we don't -- then it better look like a golf course when you drive away and no clippings or leaves in the skreet.

As for the other, they don't have to look like something out of Downton Abbey. Looking professional, relatively speaking for yard service crews, IMO doesn't hurt, though, especially if you're starting a new business.

Any job you like as long as you return phone calls, show up when you say you will and charge a fair price.

Well The Rolling Stones summer tour grossed about 140 million for 17 shows. That ain’t a bad payday for a part-time summer job. I figure each member probably got 12 million or more.

For those of you talking about golf course quality yard work, let me remind you of the reality of how the front wheel of my push mower is hanging on. slap

You cutting grass with a lawn mower held together with JB Weld? Hell...you can do at least 4 yards with that.
