The Bham mayor announced that starting in 2020 any student that graduates from a city school will receive free tuition to any 2 or 4 year in state college wonder how that will play out? The State couldnt even keep PACT up and running with large upfront investments from participants but Bham is just gonna hand it out for free wonder what the sales and corporate tax rates will end up at.

He did at least come back and clarify that it's any public 2 or 4yr college that they can get accepted to. Still hasn't mentioned how it will be paid.....reminds me of the "Scott's Tots" episode of "The Office" where Michael promised a bunch of kids he'd pay for their school and then had to tell them he couldn't.

Kalamazoo, Michigan did the exact same thing. Results? Nothing really changed. More kids went to college for a year and got to party for free, but graduation rates barely budged. The smart kids that would've gone to college and done well and gotten scholarships still went and graduated. But there's a heckuva lot more to succeeding in college/life than being able to afford tuition. Showing up on time or at all. Waking up consistently. Not being hung over. Not being in abusive relationships. Free tuition won't change any of that. And the data from Kalamazoo proves it.

The diplomas from most of the historical black colleges are not worth the paper they're written on.

Funny how it was mentioned that their Pension system is going broke and can't sustain itself but you have money for college? Woodfin must be up for reelection soon.

unpopular opinion: This idea that has become more and more prevalent the last 20-30 years that "every kid should get a college education" could not be farther from the truth. I would venture to say that roughly 1/3 of the people I went to college with (and that's being conservative) had zero business going to college. They didn't even want to be there and didn't really get anything out of it. There are a LOT of people that would be MUCH better off going to a trade school and learning a skill, then apprenticing for a few years in their respective field.

He is betting that a Democrat will replace Trump. Every one of them has made "free" tuition a part of their platform. Poof, Birmingham is off the hook and makes Mayor Randall Woofin a hero, thus ensuring his reelection. The man is a political genius.

There’s no scandal with Randall

This, likely.

Libs continue selling this "free" everything "like in the Scandanavian countries" and with England's health care system.

Both of those are screwed up worse than monkeys with baseball bats in a china store. The Scandanavian countries tax the chit out of their citizens and England isn't far off for it's "free" services. Make a dollar, give half or more to the government for your "free" services along with the "for the good of society" services like railway lines and infrastructure.

The Libs make it sound like if you have medical or dental problems over there, you just pop in off the tram or trolley, see the kind medical staff and like Mary Poppins cheerily making it happen, you're taken care of with a lollypop and butterflies. Or that everyone over there gets to jaunt off to Oxford or Cambridge or another university for higher education, thus making the populace so incredibly smarter than the rest of the world.

It's a big bag of lies yet the Socialist Dems here are selling it hard to the voters under age 40 including the current crop of 18-yos. It's why they keep hammering it along with gun control, reparations and climate change. And that "voter suppression" is keeping the "real winners" from taking office like over in Georgia. They don't care that it's lies because when rebuffed, they can say "Eh, they're just old angry white bigots and racists who want status quo" and keep on lying. They think internally AOC probably is an idiot but know she is dragging along more voters who believe she can do something.

The 2020 election is going to be incredibly critical to our nation's future, as are every one of them from now on for the presidency and Senate.

Pretty much, yep. Even if they just win Senate or presidency, with them holding the House it would be bad news. If they win both and hold the House, we're screwed 32 ways to Sunday for many years.

if Trump can get one or two more SCJ appointments it will slow it down a couple decades I hope RBG either resigns or doesnt wake up in the morning I told people in 2016 its not the President you are voting for but whether or not we have a Liberal or Conservative Supreme Court imagine if Hillary had made the appointments instead of Trump. Thomas should step aside also since he is likely next to go after RBG and let another conservative take his place.

RBG will be placed into a medically induced coma to keep her alive past the next election.

RBG won’t resign until she’s dead. If she had thoughts of it she would’ve already did it a few years ago
