Ok Guys, lm going to be in the market for a truck towards the end of the year. My choices will be 4 doors, 4wd, gas burner.
I’m going to be looking at used, approximately 50k miles, give or take a few,
If ALL THINGS were equal, ie: equipment, luxury items, miles and price where would you go?
Things I’m looking for are: Fuel Milage, maintenance needs, issues and resale value.
I also want to hear from you guys of what you wish your truck had or things it had you could live without

I can live without everything but power steering, ac and heat. All things equal I would go with ford.

I've got a 2019 crew cab Tacoma TRD off-road. It's a fine truck but I do miss having the room that my F150 had. If I were to do it over again, I'd probably get a F150 to keep at the house and buy a decent car to drive back and forth to work. The Tacoma was the best all-around fit for me though and it's a good truck

I bought a Ford, LOTS more room inside it. I would probably opt for the 5.0 instead of the 6 I bought, but then again I like the gas mileage and I don't know of anything I can't do with it.

I had a 2018 Ford F150 5.0 V8 for seven months. Truck had multiple issues. Drove fine 20% of the time, the rest of the time the transmission (10 spd) would shift rough. Sometimes just enough to annoy you other times, I would think that the transmission was about to hit the pavement. Truck had a loud BANG underneath about every 15 starts. When you got on the gas, there was an odd thud under from right front of engine. Auto seats moved most of the time, other times they wouldn't. Lots to the love about the truck, but it had issues. I researched, researched and researched. Others have these issues to varying degrees and it seems that they were more common in 2018 F150 manufactured in late 2017 or early 2018.

Ford was unable to fix. Just my personal experience.

You can’t have it all. Most reliable is probably Toyota, but they’re butt ugly, Tundra at least. Toyota gas mileage stinks too. I’d go Ford or GM. New GM/Chevy tailgate is pretty dumb and doesn’t function with a trailer hitch in.

I used to be partial as well....to Chevy. However, when it was time to get a new vehicle I drove them all and narrowed it down to a Nissan Titan Pro-4X and a Ford F150. Ended up going with the F150 because of the opportunity I found and I haven't looked back. I wasn't a Ford guy at all, but I love this truck. I wanted a 5.0 and knew the gas mileage wouldn't be much better than my 98 Tahoe, but I ended up being wrong there as well. Down and back to Orange beach I got 21.4mpg. The room is great and it's more comfortable that a new GMC.

A mans got to know his limitations.

I'm a never Ford guy, anything but a Ford.
But I also refuse to pay for what people are getting
for most ANY truck nowadays.
I bought a Landcruiser instead.
If I had to buy a truck it would be a Tundra.

Seems like that would've qualified under the whole "Lemon Law" deal....

The best I've gotten in mine is low 19's from Tuscaloosa to the beach and back - but that's a relatively flat drive and running 60-65 most of the way. On the interstate around here, maybe mid-16's and 14.5ish around town in stop & go traffic.....but, mine's leveled, on 33's and has the optional lower gearing.

Not in the market now but I got a rental last month at the airport in Ohio. They upgraded me and gave me 5 trucks/SUV to choose from. I picked a 2019 Ram. That thing was fine. I am going to look into them next year when I get a new one. Only concern is the resale value. I have to get a new vehicle every 3-4 yrs with the program my company has, so I need resale value.

not a fan of the Government motors deal either, but ford is just as guilty.

Dodge has horrible reliability. They’re really nice trucks with a lot of power, but have serious issues.

I don’t know why all trannys can’t be as good as Toyota’s. Issues with them are almost unheard of.

Tundra meets all your specs but fuel mileage. But you can buy alot of fuel with the money saved on repairs and the extra resale value.
