The fact that you asked the question would indicate that you can foresee negative consequences which would not be good for you civilly, but since there was contributory negligence on their part, you might be OK. Criminally, they would have to show that you had intentions of hurting them, which would be hard to do unless you ran your mouth about it.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Build a fence, 3-4 strands of barbed wire and put “No Trespassing” signs on it, clearly visible to the trespassers and you’ll be okay. Run one strand of barbed wire and you’re rolling the dice.
FYI
Building a fence probably won’t end your problems with these trespassers. They’ll just make themselves another way around. I foresee you making a future post titled “I hate thieves”.
