When trying to pattern a buck in hog country (especially in BAMA) do hogs interfere with deer enough to disrupt a bucks ability to develop a routine? Which would make patterning one very difficult.

Not sure about disrupting their entire routine, but hogs will definitely affect deer around a food source.

Have you tried Google?

Absolutely especially if hogs are relatively new to the area. They completely removed all deer from an area of our property two years ago. It was a huge group of hogs like 55. They took over the bedding area and 2 green fields. Deer finally came back about 2 weeks after I trapped them all.

"A" hog can affect deer movement. A "bunch" of hogs can completely run off the deer.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Hogs constantly consume all of the natural resources so the deer have to move to find food.

They will chase the deer off. Deer don't like them from what I can tell. Had a great spot at oakmulgee for years until the dam hogs came in and tore the place all to hell and the deer left. Hasn't been worth a crap since.

Use to hunt in evergreen. Numerous times prior to deer season I would have nice bucks coming to corn piles, hogs show up and deer vanish. In my experience, hogs will flat out keep deer out of an area.

You've never brought this up in your turkey rants. This could also be a big part of your turkey problem as well

They don’t seem to mind hogs on our property.

In the top picture. Is that a doe second from the left? If so, she looks like a whopper of a doe.

I have caught all of the hogs on the property before January every year. They typically stay in th lower areas where the turkeys are not. They definately could have something to do with the population but they generally show up on cam and I kill the entire group within a month. Last year we were completely hog free for 10 months. I have never killed or seen a hog on our place in the spring. They normally show up in early fall or late summer and die before winter. We had hogs back when we had Turkeys previously 12 or so years ago so I did not figure the decline was related. The hogs disappeared for 5 or so years back 8 or 9 years ago. That is when the turkeys seemed to take the biggest hit as well for whatever reason.

You can’t tell in that picture but it’s a 8 point.
