Not that disagree but there sure seems to be a growing distrust of the DCNR. It use not be that way and a shame that's the direction we are headed.

There is no reason to trust the DCNR, we have the all knowing Aldeer experts to trust

The top brass don't trust, or listen to, their own biologists. They check the political wind and chase the almighty dollar.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Well, both the CDC and the World Health Organization recommend testing the deer before eating it and to not eat it if tests positive for a reason. Like others here, I trust the gov't zero especially with the amount of $ that's at stake with the hunting industry.

I don't believe a word from those morons at World Health.
They are the idiots who said roundup is a carcinogenic.

central ala,
I don't pretend to know if eating diseased deer is safe or not, but it certainly appears the fear of CW D will have an impact on the number of deer hunters when found in Alabama. Between CWD, land to hunt, cost$$$, etc. number of deer hunters could make a sharp decline.

I remember in the early 70's when Monsanto boasted 100% safe while rinsing their mouths out and spit it out.
Now, that generation has come to pass and we're left to deal with the present global warming culture. Everything causes cancer. And case studies can be taylored to fit any legal agenda.

I think I was in fourth or fifth grade when it was determined that "Red Dye No. 9, commonly found in hot dogs, can cause cancer!"

And I thought, even at that age:

1. Injecting almost anything into a lab mouse or rat at concentrated amounts can cause some kind of problem including cell deformities

2. I didn't care because I liked and still like hot dogs. Red hot weenies with mustard, onions and chili are good.

I’m not sure about cancer, but the fear is that CWD causes prion associated dementia like Creutzfield Jacob disease in humans. If it did (no confirmation that it does) it would be big and bad news.

It's a natural progression. They earned the distrust by putting politics above the resources.

In your opinion, when did that begin?

The politics became a predominant force with the crossbow circus. There was political winds swirling well before that, but the monster was born during the Riley Smith and Don Seigelman regime. Since then it's grown exponentially and now it's too big to kill.

exactly what Mark said above^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. There was NO groundswell looking to make crossbows legal like the dept said there was, it was all about the money. and it has gotten worse since then. I've never seen such distrust of the dept in my life.
