Thinking about scooping this thing up for a weekend ride/public land hunting rig. It’s a 2005 Z71 Tahoe, body has 205k miles on it and it and the interior are in fantastic shape. All electric everything works, heated seats and ice cold air. Motor and transmission have been replaced by a very experienced mechanic whom we both know and trust. Motor has 128k miles and trans has around 55k miles on it. Has a set of Toyo MTs on it with less than 3k miles on them. Says he wants $6k for it but would give it to me for $5k. He’s driven it to work every day since he had all the work done to it so it seems to be reliable. What say ye Aldeer? Run away or jump on it? Anything I should look for or ask about it?

My $.02 is that everything you just listed are the last things I would want in a hunting vehicle. For a woods vehicle I would want manual locks, windows, I also think that motor and transmission should have lasted longer especially on a pre “Flex Fuel” vehicle. Personally I would be looking for a 96-99 Tahoe if that’s what you are wanting.

$5000 for that is a steal. If you don't buy it, and you trust the guy selling it as well as the repair shop, let me know so I can drive over and get it.

$1000 in tires, straight body, fresh trans = hard to lose on this deal.

It already has a ranch hand grill guard. Throw a yeti in the back and it is worth $10k easy.

I’d jump on it and turn around and sell it for 8500, easily worth that as compared to what some folks are asking for their worn out toyoti’s.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

If you have the cash its OK, if you have to borrow the money you have other more urgent things to look at.

Better get it before Outback does.
