I have been summoned to jury duty on Monday in Chilton County/Clanton and I can't make it. I have called the clerk at least 15 times and left a voicemail explaining my situation as to why I can't serve. He hasn't answered nor has he responded to my voicemail. I'm not going to show up on Monday. What can I expect? I don't have a problem doing my civil duty, as I have served on a jury before, but I can't right now.

Depends on the judge. They may have listened to your messages and excuse you or you may expect a visit from a deputy telling you to go explain to the judge why you weren't there. I've seen it work both ways.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. I left a voicemail and he returned my call that afternoon.

I know him and he should respond and if he doesn’t you probably better try and make it to the drawing session. I also most likely know the judge and he will frown upon you not showing up.

Will a deputy actually come to my house or work for this?

Yes they will, in many counties. I had a lady on a jury panel 2 weeks ago that didn’t show up and had called and was told she had to be there. The judge organizing the jury sent the deputies to get her and bring her to court.

I was hoping that you would reply doekiller. What about me calling him a number of times and leaving a voicemail?

Yes

If you left voicemail especially more than one I wouldn’t sweat it much.

I have no idea about chilton county. But, I would trust Morris on it. He knows the local lay of the land.

I’ve seen it before when a judge gets pissed off about the number of no shows.

Now, that is different. They will absolutely send a deputy to pick you up if you have been served with a subpoena. Have you called the attorney that subpoenaed you? They should be able to tell you about when they would need you and if you give them your phone number tell you they will call you and let you know when you should be there.
