The Fish Smart app is pretty awesome. I don’t have GPS electronics on my boat, but I have used this app to learn a ton about the water I’ve fished for years. Channels and holes I had no idea existed.

You can slide the scale for more or less topo shading on the water and it’s real time navigation. Your boat runs on the your phone screen.

This is where I fished this evening. The Lake Guntersville map is $30.

I use it all the time to study other lakes that our school team is going to. Keep in mind, you have up to a year after purchase to download that map to an sd card. You might not have electronics now, but you may at some point in the future. Get it downloaded on a card before your time runs out and you won’t have to buy again.
