I thought it had passed. On Outdooralabama.com under licenses "Bait Priveledge for $15.00" but on their website there is an article about it still being illegal. This permit would expire 8-31-19.

I thought it had passed and our granny gov had signed it. Is this just a mistake on their website?

[quote] By DAVID RAINER

Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

Contrary to what your buddies at the hunting camp have said or what you’ve read on social media, it is still illegal to bait deer in Alabama.

Similar to previous years, the so-called “corn” bill that was introduced in the Alabama Legislature this year did not become law. Yes, the bill passed the House of Representatives, but that’s as far as it went.

“A lot of folks still think it’s going to be legal to hunt over corn this year,” said Chuck Sykes, Director of the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division. “There was a buzz around Facebook and on social media that the House passed the baiting bill.

I think that is an old article. They really should date them.

On the cover of the Alabama Hunting and Fishing Digest it says
hunting over bait for white-tailed deer and feral swine MADE LEGAL.

old article. You could have bought a permit a few days after the law was passed to hunt hogs over that would expire on 8/31 because that is the date hunting and fishing licenses expire every year when you buy your new license this year you just pay the $15 along with the normal fees. That said if you choose not to buy the permit the area definition will still apply to you 100 yards and out of sight or you are illegal

I probably won’t bait this year. They’ve taken all the fun out of it making it legal

You could keep it illegal! just don't buy the license and then you are still hunting over bait! Problem solved
