Took my stepson to driving range this afternoon. He can hit it close to 200yrds with ONE hand. He hit the first one pretty good, I was really surprise cause that is hard to do, and told him to do it again and let me video it. He hit ~4 in a row, 175-200yards.

Consistently? 265-280 with a driver. If I jump on it 300ish.

I average right around 300. I can hit it 350+ but I can’t always control it.

I can hit 1 out of 5, 300-310 off the tee on a calm day, but normally 280ish

Been 25yr ago with 1 trip to driving range under my belt and still could only hit it 125 yards max. 16yr old abd over 6ft tall. Im awful.

About 50 yards with #4 shot.

If you straightened out the banana ball slice, about as far as anyone. As a crow flies, about average. I had the dog legs to the right down pat. If they dog legged to the left I was in trouble.

This but I can’t control any of them. I lose a lot of balls. Cause 300+ goes a looooong way outta bounds when it’s not straight

I don't know. I'm 54 and never hit one except on a Putt Putt course.

Now, laughable. Haven't played meaningful golf in a dozen years.

Back in the day I had (still have them) some Ping Eye 2 clubs with the real persimmon wood driver and 3 wood, tour sized not this oversized monsters of today. I could hit the 3 wood 260-285 consistently. I could knock on 300 200 with the driver if I ever hit it straight....could not hit that club worth nothing...

Edit...typo on driver distance. 200 was my best with my driver. More loft and backspin with 3 wood helped with distance greatly.

No they don’t. Sure, there are some exaggerations, but to say everyone does it by 20% is laughable. That would mean a guy claiming he hits it 280 would really go 220. That’s an absurd difference.

After reading this thread, that might be a low estimate.

If I hit a 260 yard drive in the fairway I’m tickled pink.

I haven't played golf in well over 20 years. When I was playing consistently I must have averaged 400 yards with my driver. I'm a leftie. It would go around 200 yards straight down the middle, then take a sharp slice to the left, cross 2-3 more fairways, going another 200 yards.

I wish I had a little of his game. I played yesterday for 1st time since 07. Shot a 131. I’m cool with it since haven’t even held a golf club in 12 years and was hoping to keep it under 150.
