We bought a Taylor pea sheller last year and that thing is beast. It’s a major time saver too. [Linked Image]

I'd just have to do without peas if I had to pick and shell them by hand.

We had found it on sale for around $400. We were shelling 15-20 gals of peas a day. It was worth it. This year we are only shelling about 5gals a day on some days. But we are fixing to put in a large fall patch of several different peas so it will get lots of use later hopefully.

Used one of these this weekend. I picked 2 5 gallon buckets of peas and had them shelled in less than 5 minutes. Man they were fine! [Linked Image]

so mom has one of these and she has only been able to use it with a smaller pea “purple Hull or black eye”. She has tried to use it for her crowder peas and it just smashes them. Anyone had any luck or can u adjust it?

The rollers have an adjustment on them. We had to open them a little got the crowders also.

Yep, you have to adjust the rollers for crowder peas. My dad had a curb market when I grew up and sold loads of fresh produce. I used to make my summer money shelling peas and butter beans! Got my ole finger caught in the wheel and the rollers more than once!! They shell better if you wet them first. If memory serves, 25 bushels was the most I ran through in one day!!!!

Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.
