What’s the good, bad, & ugly of using 40gr of IMR 4350 and 120gr Partitions to load for a .257Bob? It’s a hand me down recipe but after looking at Nosler’s recommended load info it was the exact same thing.

4350 and the Bob were made for each other. I use 43.0 grs with 115 NBT's for around 2740 FPS in my 22" barreled Ruger. Any more powder and the groups open up.

I had good results with 42.5 grs of IMR 4350 and 110 gr Accubonds out of a Ruger 77. That rifle was crazy finicky, it liked what it liked and nothing else. Sent that rifle down the road several years ago, wish I still had it.

4350 is a great all around powder. I usually use H4350, but also use IMR4350 in a couple of guns. Works in virtually all of the 30-06 based cartridges, several of the 308 cartridges and works good in many of the belted magnums. If most of your guns are in the 06 and magnum class, this powder should always be on your shelf. If you only shoot 223 and 308. Varget or TAC would be a good choice.

I’m encouraged by these posts. Thanks for all the info fellas. 4350 is a great all around powder. I usually use H4350, but also use IMR4350 in a couple of guns. Sounds like 4350 would satisfy 95% of my rifle ammo needs. What’s the difference in the IMR4350 and the H4350? I know I could google but I’d rather hear it from one of y’all.

I have never had an issue with substituting H4350 for IMR4350. The difference is that H4350 is less temperature sensitive and is cut shorter, which makes it flow better and more consistent through a powder measure. H4350 is by far the most popular powder in use by competitors on the PRS, one reason there can be shortages from time to time.

No doubt that charge weights would likely be pretty dang close, and results fairly similar. I would have thought Varget would have dominated that rank with all the 6.5s and 308s.

I use both and can't tell any difference on paper. Just to test it my self I loaded up 10 of each and only thing different was the powder. POI was the same at 100 yards. This was out of a 270wsm. Didn't chrony it either but I am calling it good.

Nobody shoots a 308 in PRS. Its all 6mm and 6.5mm stuff with higher compression ratios that are perfect for H4350.

I seem to get more velocity with IMR4350 than it’s H counterpart.
