So I’m planning to maybe try a little crappie fishing this fall. I’ve caught a crappie or 2 ever, but I basically know zip. Got it in mind I’d like to fish single pole with a Bobby Garland jig. I e also been told you could catch em on a light Carolina rig with a minnow. Any tips would be welcome.

We were supposed to do an interview. I’ve got to try again to pin him down.

Not much to it AC. Cast out, count down depth and (Remember) and then slowly reel back at a consistent speed. Change up depths until you get bit and then you'll know where they are at. Just go fish and you'll start getting the hang of how to catchem.
Ultralight Reel 4lb high viz yellow 1/16 or 1/32 jig head Bobby Garland (Whites and Blues have always been my favorites)

Get on YouTube and watch Richard Gene. He’s my fishing hero. I’d put him up against anybody for any species. Slaying the fish in a jon boat with a $99 depth finder. I just wish Elmo would get it together.

One of the best days I've had on the water was on the Mobile Delta in early June. My Dad and I had intentions of just getting out on the water to maybe catch a few. Our setup was simple. Zebco 33 with a beetle spin, 1/8 oz weight, black with a chartreuse tail trailer. We went into a creek that was muddy, but the water was coming out with good current. And the fish were there. We wore them out. We would throw past any stump, log, or anything in the middle of that creek and would let it sink down keeping semi-slack on the line. On every piece of cover there would be 5-10 fish. They were some slabs too! We hit our limit on crappie and left them biting. So much fun and the payoff was some good eatin'.

In the summertime, find structure in 15-25 feet of water and anchor down. We fish with minnows and do pretty well like that. Give em 30 minutes or so and if they ain't biting, move to another spot.

Think I’m going to get a light and go tonight. Some place near current, where the water temp is cooler and the bait is stacked up. Near bluffs, bridges, bends in main river channel etc. Ride around, find the bait and anchor up. The fish will come
