The state guys said the baiting license's purpose is to get an accurate number of hunters. If this is what he said about getting an accurate number of hunters, a reasonable person would suspect they're playing a long game to amend the "exempt" license structure to require youth and/or elder hunters to buy a license. If a lot of the current exempt hunters buy this "privilege" bait license -- and that's a big if -- they'd have x-number of under-16 and over-65 hunters on file. Then they could say, "We're losing x-amount of revenue, so we should create a Youth License and change the old age exemption." Fishing, too. Lot of young and old anglers out there. Just wait.

I'm not buying a permit. But I will bait if I deem it necessary. And I sincerely hope Chuck catches me personally.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I think it's stupid too but it's $15, a ticket would be in the $hundreds, I'm buying one I’d like to know how much the fine actually is. Some fines are no more than double the cost of the permit, if that’s the case you’d only be risking $30. It seems that the only reason they made baiting legal was because they thought they could make more money off the permits then they could fining people when it was illegal. It really trivializes breaking the rules.

The only thing that's CLEAR with the baiting law is that the state has found yet another way to separate people from their money....and many seem happy about it.

I'm not disagreeing with any of you that this is another way for the state to make money or that the law is stupid but I'm curious what other laws ya'll just to follow and not follow? In my opinion it's always best to just obey the law until you can bother someone enough to change it. Orange hat law, shooting light time law, game check law thosr r a few that I don't always follow to the t...i hunt on our private land and some laws r stupid

In the end, each person will choose what they will and won’t obey (reasons will vary).

I can't wait until they try to give a citation to a 10- or 11-year-old girl or boy for not having this "privilege" license.
and to make it even better, the child's parents purchased them a lifetime license when they turned one year old.

Its just a way to exploit Alabama's hunting population to get money through you buying a baiting permit or writing you a ticket for not buying a baiting permit. Its as simple as that !!
