Depends on things other than square footage....roof pitch and style come into play. And, of course, what type of shingles you're planning on using. Architectural will be more than regular 3 tab.

No idea on current price, but it looks like a fairly easy single story 3/12 pitch hip roof with no valleys unless there's more to it on the back side. It should be way cheaper than most. Back in the 1980's I would have done it for 45-55 dollars per square. What roofers are charging these days I don't know. But one thing for certain is that it should be cheaper than most houses per sq.

The house pictured is about the easiest shingle job possible. Most crews would do it in a day from what I’ve seen.

Whatever they are charging, they are certainly earning their money in this weather. Hot as blazes or rain which means no working and no getting paid. When I see roofers working this time of year, they have my upmost respect. When my neighbor had his replaced not long ago, I had no issue with them starting at sunrise and knocking off at lunchtime. I didn't mind giving up a little sleep for them.

Around $220 per square. That's material, labor and dump fee. Tear off and nail on.

I did it for a while when I was a young man and I have to agree with you on this one. There is no way in HAIL that I could do it now. I'd have a heart attack and stroke simultaneously before I got the old roof tore off.

Are you stuck on shingles? The last one I had done metal was $200 cheaper than the shingle job was. Slate gray would be about the same color as the shingles pictured.

And that was with shingle tear off, putting down synthetic underlay and strips for a air gap. Not a quickie throw it down on top of the old shingles like some do.

I had one done last spring in Alabaster on a house about like that. It was between $4000/$5000. That was for a dimensional shingle. I used a mfg certified installer and got a 50 year mfg warranty. The roof was done in one day.

The roof I had done was 21 squares.

This. with the price of oil, standard tar shingles are now getting as expensive as metal, and metal will last you 50+

I put out $15k above ...forgot to add I had a detached garage that added to it, prolly 25x25...so another 625 sq ft makes it almost 2500 sq ft...still it was $15k

That’s around 13 squares at $220.00 = $2,060.00

Not bad at all for everything.
