Taurus Judge 2.5" or 3" shell

Main reason for getting it is to carry early season for snakes.

You guys with Judges do you use 2.5 or 3" shells in it?
What size shot?

3" just cause. I rarely use 3" but the option is always there

Yeah it's plenty. I may have misunderstood Belly's post, have you already purchased your Judge? I scanned over it fast earlier and thought u were asking opinions on which to buy a 2.5 or 3" chamber. I purchased the 3" just in case i want to load up some 3s, but i usually load mine up with 2.5s #7s or 8s and sometimes toss a few 45Colts in the mix

I usually keep the “Home Defense “ shells in mine that are 2 1/2”. I used to try to keep a couple of 7 1/2s for snakes but the armadillos were too much unless fairly close shot. The Home Defense have 3 copper plates and smaller bird shot. You don’t get as much spread with pellets but more range and punch. Again, just depends on what you want. I shot a two liter bottle of water with both loads at 10 yards to compare.

Yup, mine is a 2.5" with high brass #6. One with a 2.5" is a lot of cylinder a 3" is about all cylinder.

Sir, there are problems with the 3” version. I’ve owned several judges and each of them turned out to be a POS as with other folk I know.

The Bond Texan or S&W gov are better guns for the purpose using 2.5 Winchester AA because its waddlng keeps a tighter pattern

The CCI 45 ACP shotshell is best for the purpose

Ruger 5152

good choice on the Judge or similar in my opinion ; I was with a friend on sbs couple years ago - he had the Judge on the seat, stopped to get off, I was already on the ground and saw him make a Matt Dillion move for the pistol. before I realized what was going on he had shot a big copperhead almost in half. He said he would've stepped on it if he hadn't looked down before he got off sbs. made me a believer

Finally an honest statement. The pistol is light and gonna kick no matter which shell you use.

Thank everyone.........

I have been looking for one for ~3yrs. Most people are asking nearly new prices for used one. Yesterday I picked one up for $250, w/ a scabbard.

Not really a holster, not a zip up soft case, kinda between the 2. I don't know what the technical term is.

JT loads up some shells for his 410 that I bet would be awesome in a Judge. 2.5 inch with 20gr of little gun and a mix of 6 and 9 shot. It’ll turn a chipmunk inside out.
