Had enough guys wanting pics and such so, I'll start it up... I've been in and out of the woods a lot since march and secured the one private place I wanted permission to hunt last year and was told NO. I gave the dude a grocery bag of elk burger and told him he could have 1/2 a bull if killed on his property. It's bordering the timber company land and has a creek on the lower end. I'm hoping the Timber lands are shut down for fire danger the first week, lol. Keep the guys out and the pressure low. Last year I would here bugles in there but, I resisted and didn't go in after them knowing I probably wouldn't get caught. It was just the principle of it.

Now ya know why it sucked not going into that timber. It's just a 200yd wide by about 1000yd long parcel

Looks like the question is: What kind of bull are you going to hold out for?

“Killing tomorrow’s trophies today.”

On the distance I like to walk to my stands:
“The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

I held out last year and had to issue myself a cow tag, lol. This year in that area, I'll hold out for at least what looks like a mature bull, don't have to be a monster.

About 10 days ago I went to an area we hunted a few years ago and snooped around more. Found this lil elk trail and threw up a camera in there, mostly cows/calves using it right now I think.

A quick gear review. Just recently picked up a pair of First Lite gaitors.
First impression is a good buy. Light weight for warm weather hiking. Kept the dew outta my boots as well as all this dirt. I like'em.

Bring it on. Hoping to see some public land bulls myself this fall.

Agreed, the first lite gaiters are good. Mine are in their third season.
