Saw a group of 20 or so hens in the middle of a cow pasture yesterday in Lee Co. Didn't see a single poult. Will they leave them in the woods 2-300 yards away? I can’t imagine none of them were successful.

Couldn’t be due to wet weather.

Best conditions for poults I’ve ever seen here. Lots of big groups running around finally. 24 days of warm and dry beginning May 13 couldn’t have hit at a better time

Saw two hens with at least 4-5 yesterday close to the house. I plan to put a camera out to see what my hens behind the house have done this year.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I saw 2 hens by themselves Sunday, but the next hen I saw had 9 poult's and they were the size of a chicken and could fly good. I also saw a pair of quail and they had a nice group of young ones about the size of sparrows. This is in central Baldwin county.

Poults will be with the hen, they are not like deer where the doe leaves the fawn. Exception would be if the hen is spooked by something ,she will alarm the poults to lay down while she tries to lead the threat away.

Y’all know weather ain’t got nothing to do with it. Studies have PROVEN it’s how many gobblers you killed right when the season opened. And tons of states with modified seasons have proven it too. Y’all did know that right?

Thanks. That’s disturbing. In the early season I can usually hear that pasture from my house and hear gobblers every year. This year I didn’t hear one all season. Some gobbler will be a lucky man when he finds that hen group.
