No I’m not using slang for a crappie. Could this be a White Perch? My son and I were enjoying Hydrofest today by fishing below the dam. We caught around 30 White Bass and this guy. The shape is much like a white bass but the coloration is way off. All the white bass had dark backs and their lines were very prominent.

Need a biologist to weigh in. I can't tell if it's a off color white bass or a white perch. I think the shape of it fits a white bass better than the perch. I think the perch have a distinct look/shape and that doesn't seem to fit it.

It probably is a white bass but I don’t understand why it’s coloration is so different than the rest are. Guess it could just be a genetic thing.

I'd call it a White Bass. We have caught a ton of them like that over the years down below the dam.

side note: A few years ago I pulled a 43 lb blue cat in the boat within a few feet of where your boat is sitting.

side note 2: PM sent

I had to go ahead and look it up to make sure. I don't guess you looked for a tooth patch on the tongue. A White Bass has it, White Perch doesn't. A White Bass has yellow eyes. The pic posted appears to have yellow eyes. The ruling on the field stands. Completion, White Bass and first down.

No, we didn't. I guess this one got stuck down under some concrete for a couple of days and lost his sun tan.
