Saw a while back that Idaho was wanting trappers to come from anywhere tp help catch and thin down the wolf population. Their neighbor (Washington) will not let anyone kill the wolves
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Two good looking dogs..DEAD. I hate notes, and I'd hate wolves if I lived near where the libtards had turned em loose.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

A couple years ago I was on forever wild coon Gulf tract. I saw 3 critters that I’m not sure what they were. They weren’t domestic dogs and they were WAY too big to be coyotes. Looked very much like wolves, nearly black with grey grizzled backs.
They were the same size as a grown Great Pyrenees,at least 100lbs

Wow, that is insane! I could not imagine seeing a wolf in the Alabama woods. Crazy

They were the same size as a grown Great Pyrenees,at least 100lbs Likely left over genetics from being mixed with domestic dogs. Lone coyotes will breed with dogs to expand their range. A few generations in and it’s almost all coyote again. I killed one in Chatom that was best described as a very dark brindle. Have seen a few on current lease in Monroe county that appear black. There was nothing be that I saw a few times but could never get a shot at that looked like a 100-110# black German shepherd but the face was definitely coyote.

Maybe it's just me, but that yote looks looks larger than normal, or at least compared to the ones I see around here. That wolf would look even bigger compared to an avg size yote I'm used to seeing. Exactly what I was thinking as well; a DANG big coyote. Obviously a northern coyote and of course his winter fur helps but he's a big one.

best friend back home had a wolf hybrid from parchman (penitentiary). they were breeding them for tracking purposes, but never could get enough wild bred out of them (obedience wasn't quite where they wanted it). it was a timber wolf/ husky mix and was a beautiful creature! he (dire wolf...go figure) was a svelte 125lbs with golden eyes and his markings were a lot like the one you killed in the arctic, bgh. he and I would wrestle and play, so I could get him to "come" easier than friend could, but if he was inside a car/truck...he was coming out when he got good and ready to, and nobody was making him before then!!! friend had a seadoo jet boat wreck and was in the hospital for a year and Dire regressed in his tameness without the consistent human contact needed. he was about 3-3.5 years old and those considered "experts" said that it was about the natural time that most "tamed" wild pets started to act out, as it was naturally the time they began to find their place in the pack...aka, dominance displays. he was put to sleep b/c friend couldn't handle him and I had no where (at college) to keep him. there were a few scattered across the MS Delta and one I knew of that roamed free on a farm near Belzoni...lots of interesting sighting tales for a while!!

Had a 3/4 Belgian Shepard 1/4 Timber Wolf solid black working weight was 135 lbs. She was a model dog for her entire life died at a little over 13 years old. But with that being said she would have died protecting my wife and I the most loyal dog I’ve ever had. Glad we had her during the time we did. Forgot to say she absolutely loved children or anything baby. She would bring baby rabbits, birds, or anything baby to my wife had the softest mouth I’ve ever seen. Never once did anything she picked up die because of her.

I went to a wolf preserve down in Vernon, Florida last year. They aren't as big in person as people imply. Probably about the size of a German Shepherd.

That first pic looks like a normal coyote to wolf comparison shot. Pull the rear and front quarters off each and the body size comparison is about right. Its a healthy wolf, but not a monster by any means.
I've seen two while hunting out west.
