I remember golf courses putting them out in the early 1990s. That was a mistake. Probably the most infamous mass killing ( goose ) in state history.
You haven't been blocked until you've been flock blocked!!!

Goose Pond in Scottsboro attempted a controlled kill several years (maybe a few decades) ago and the damn bleeding hearts other got it shut down or very severely limited. Guntersville lake has a YUGE plucking goose problem. more than that the cormorants have actually killed a few islands with their fecal droppings. These are both NON-NATIVE species that should have been killed off decades ago. It was in the late 1990s and they had a severe problem at the golf course. Set up a controlled hunt on the course, with hay bales for blinds. Harold Hill, who had a "goose sanctuary" in Madison after his earlier days of admittedly being a poacher and rogue hunter, contacted PETA and they raised hell about killing all the geese. Scottsboro and Goose Pond officials buckled under the public outcry and the controlled hunt was canceled. Interestingly, some of the geese disappeared, though, a few weeks later. These friggin' flying rats are a nuisiance. If they don't leave they're not migratory and should not be protected under migratory bird laws/regs. Let's go back to the beginning. The city "introduced" them to Goose Pond back in the mid 80's. They brought the damn things in and protected them early on. Here's the kicker , the place they were trapped from up North wanted them gone. Exactly. The places they were getting them from to transport them here for release? They hated the nasty $*(@$*# and wanted them gone, dead, dead and gone, whatever, as long as they were gone.

Have you read about the baseball players up there that got arrested last week for beating a duck with a bat while they were drunk at a party (the players, not the duck? . Better lay low for awhile until it blows over. Haven’t read about that, but as a freshman baseball player at Jacksonville U I killed a raccoon with a bat while at a pajama party. Skinned it on the back porch and played soft toss with its head. Needless to say after that the upper classman Told me i didnt have to participate in freshman initiation. I chose to participate anyways I liked to party

Wish they'd do the same around Sturbridge here in Montgomery. They have taken over most of Vaughn road now. They waddle all over the friggin place. A while back there were some around my office and I was coming down the road as they were crossing. I didn't speed up but I didn't slow down either. The only migratory bone in those birds tells them to fly south to the hay fields off Ray Thorington road and back north to Sturbridge. Takes 'em about 5 minutes max. I wonder how they humanely "euthanized" those out in The Waters? Serious question. Dr. B

Hevishot13, did you look into it? You sound like a liberal... forming an opinion with emotion and without knowing a damn thing what's going on! If you would have looked into it, you would find people that have to put up with these chit dumping birds. Try living on a lake with TONS of geese, or chit-ers!! They come up into your yard and poop-out WAAAY more groceries than they take it. One Sunday, my family and I all went to church and came back to cook and have an enjoyable time at the lake house. The kids were going to swim in the lake and run around in the yards and the adults were going to go outside and sit in chairs on the lawn and watch the kids play! Well, NOPE!!!! Geese chit EVERYWHERE in the yard. No, not just a turd here and there BUT TONS OF POOP everywhere!!!! I ruined the Sunday afternoon. So, before forming an opinion, you should listen to the residents that actually live THERE!! Also, you should know that Alabama doesn't not allow the transportation of geese. There is really only one logical choice and it was done. I support the removal!!!

I never posted an opinion or any text whatsoever other than a sarcastic title. Folks on here that know me knew that it was sarcastic. Now, maybe you shouldn’t form an opinion about me or what I said without knowing a damn thing that’s going on. Have a nice day!
