If a trophy is what you are after go with the San Carlos Apaches in AZ. Since it is on the reservation, they make the rules. Biggest Black Bears around, but not cheap.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

What was your experience like with them? Details on your hunt?

What was your experience like with them? Details on your hunt? I’ve have a friend that has been going there for a few years. This year 3 of the 5 in group harvested on first day of hunt. Other 2 tagged 2nd day. I paid my deposit for next season. This wouldn’t be the place for you though...he said beer was $48 per case. One of the owners is from LaGrange, GA

Saskatchewan , Alberta or Manitoba are the go to places, or at least used to be. I killed a Cinnamon color phase in Saskatchewan back in the 90's . Not monster big but a beautiful color.

NC is supposed to have some heavy bears.
83% of all statistics are made up.

NC is supposed to have some heavy bears. This is 100% accurate. The areas along the coast have some seriously big bears (think 400-500+ lbs). There are a few good outfitters that have high success rates but I’m not sure you’d get into any color phase bears out there. BGH probably knows a few good ones there and a hunting forum I’m on has a member that has guided out there. I can get info from him if desired. If you want to go to Canada for the experience then I completely understand that. Just got back from a road trip to Canada and while their politics are a little different in the major cities I think you’d be surprised how much the rural folks are just like us. The scenery is pretty awesome too.
