Are you all keeping the bluegills on these smaller bodies of water or catch and release? We don't allow keeping of bluegills/bream on our 26 acre pond. Not being nosey, but why all "catch and release" for the bluegills?

I'd have a biologist look at the ratio. We were bigtime bream heavy and were told to get 10 lbs.per acre out of the lake. Later, we got a ratio count and were told we had merely held our on. I believe I'd check the ratio. (just suggestion).

This is on the guidance of American Sportfish American Sportfish told me at the time I stocked my pond that the bluegill never need thinning and its best to not remove any but to take X amount of medium sized Bass per year. Guess it depends on if you want a big bass pond or a big bluegill pond.

Guess it depends on if you want a big bass pond or a big bluegill pond. That probably depends on whether the pond was bluegill crowded or bass crowded to start with. I doubt that rule stands as the pond reaches equilibrium again.
