If you have owned a "hunting golf cart" and a Polaris type UTV, which do you prefer? I'm tempted to try a 4x4 golf cart every summer, but I love my Ranger, and I use it to work on the land through out the year. I just wish it wasn't so loud in hunting season. Looking for some advice about the pros and cons of using a golf cart for hunting. Thanks for your input!

what size is your property, is it more flat or hilly, do you have to run through mud on any consistent basis? From what I've personally experienced, they're great as long as your property is relatively flat and has decent roads. But, nothing kills batteries faster than a lot of elevation or thick mud.

More importantly... Does Falken make UTV sized tires?

It's got hills, big hills and hollers. I'm think ing I better stick with my ranger. Maybe I can find some way to quiet it a little.

I'll offer that I had one of those Silent Rider exhaust on a 4-wheeler and it made that thing pretty quiet. Not like a golf cart quiet.... but I rode up on many many more critters after I installed it. I believe to the wildlife it just sounded like it was further away.
Seemed about the same at idle but when you were running at speed it was without a doubt much more quiet.

A lot depends on how large a tract of land you are hunting. I don't hunt on anything larger than 700 acres, so my cart works just fine. I hunt some really steep land that I can't possibly get over with my 2 wd truck, but it's no issue for the cart, and my cart is just 2 wd. I have a winch that will get me through anything, but I very seldom need it. If there is a road on it, my cart will climb it.
You have also got to have a cart that has been properly designed for the woods. There are a bunch of carts for sale that someone has added a lift kit and big tires and that's it. They may look like a hunting buggy, but the only question is when they are gonna break down, not if. A hunting buggy needs at least a 500 amp controller and upgraded cables and solenoid at a minimum. Some types need a new motor. Carts get a bad rep because so many are just stock with big tires.
If you are hunting a place that is 1500 acres or more, I'd go with the utv. Good luck deciding.

You can shoot a deer off a Polaris ranger. So I’d say it really doesn’t bother them. The deer killin-est man I ever knew was an older guy that would drive his samurai down into the corner of a field and sit in it with it running with the heat on, then roll the window down when it was time to shoot. It's all about what they're used to.
