Ok seeing Crockett's trout has woke me up. Anyone else trout fish in Alabama? Where do y'all go? I've heard that below Smith Lake dam and Tanny Hill are the places to go. Give me some ideas and advice. Thanks

Tanneyhill definitely now for next few weeks.

But for yall that have fished Georgia or Tenn where would you go? As for me im not overly excited about catching a 10-12 inch fish. I would hope to catch a trout with shoulders; either brown or rainbow.. Would love to try arky for browns...and as of know would probably use an ultra or microlight...

As far as Tennessee I have only fished Tellico, they're about like what you catch at Smith Lake from what I understand. Every now and then you can catch a good one that has survived and made it a year or two . I don't know of a place close that you can catch a big boy like you caught at Tanny Hill.

Below Smith Lake Dam is a great place to go. I'm not sure how long the ones in Madison Co lake will survive once the water temp goes up.

We used to fish below tims ford dam back in the day. Caught a many a rainbow there and saw a few really nice browns.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Southbamaslayer thanx

When I floated the innertubes on the LITTLE RIVER in Townsend Tenn putting in at the intersection where you would go right to go to cades cove or north to Dollyworld without a doubt I saw 5-10 deep holes where there were HUGE TROUT, typically 7-8 schooled together.. probably 6-15 pound monsters spread out in pools throuhhout the 3-4 miles you float back towards townsend. Crap I wanted a spear gun.

I've never caught a very good trout in Alabama but I did catch a nice Brown a little North of Gatlinburg off of 416 several years ago. I didn't weigh it before releasing it but it measured a little over 21" and was in fairly good shape. It was before smartphones so all I had was one of those old disposable cameras. I have an actual paper photo somewhere.
