I know nothing about horse racing but the #7 got maximum screwed. The interference BS is like holding in football and can prob be called every race.

Wonder how long it’ll take to link one of officials to the 65:1 horse.

It was a non-intended bump, Country House was just as "guilty" as the Maximum Security. I don't think the jockey intended to impede Country House. The 13 horse/jockey drifted out pushing the other horses out. They have too many dang horses in the race in the first place, about half of them had no business being in the race. They should have a couple of elimination races if the field is more than 14 or so horses. Put the two of them out there and Country House would run second. It was a tainted, BS race.

It was strange. Never had heard of any such rule.

Well talked to my daddy today, and he ended up betting $40 bucks on the horse that ended up winning, he was a happy camper to say the least lol...

Agreed. That was a BS call. What they need to do is just time trial them and fastest time wins.

I wonder how they dealt with people that ran up to the window and cashed their tickets before the DQ?

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

There was a challenge filed immediately. They don’t pay out tickets until the race is official. This isn’t that unusual.

Not a problem. Until the results are "made official" no bets are paid. You can run to the window but you will be standing in line till all protests and rulings are complete. Been there while stationed at Fort Knox and got to the races not just the Derby.

I think what folks are saying tho is that some pissed off folks tore up their tickets on the longshot winner to be. What to do then?

What would really be interesting is if the horse that was DQed was declared the winner after this appeals process. I dont think that will happen but bettors and the sportsbook would have a serious cluster frick on their hands

One thing for sure, the horse racing business lost a lot of fans of races because of the DQ.

No they haven't. The only people that are bitching are people that don't watch racing to begin with.

Then they were dumbasses. You don't do anything with a ticket before the race is official.

This action isn't unusual. It occurs all the time. It has never happened at the derby adn most casual observers have no idea about racing anyway. Here is a still shot that shows why he was DQed. Look at the trailing horses front leg, he almost caused a huge crash.

If you put 24 or so horses in a race like that you are asking for trouble. Late runners in the last turn are blocked by somebody. They should have elimination races to narrow the field to no more than 10 per race. I still don't see where the 7 was at fault, the other horse should have been going wider. I had just as soon bet on a dang Jai Alai match as a horse race.
