I bet Whild Bill sneaks into people's back yards and fishes in there fountains since they're usually stocked with Chinese coy fish.

Tresspassing has to be posted. There aren't any laws I know of for fishing without permission. Go for it I waited for someone to find it....so here it is: 220-2-.44(6) illegal to fish from the posted lands of another without obtaining permission from the landowner. Yer welcome. Having trouble looking it up. Can you post a link please? Anyway what you copied says posted. Signage is required.

look it up yourself, ya said you were an expert... sorry, couldn't help it...and you did say there were NO such laws/regs concerning fishing w/o permission.....but you did say "that I know of"...... pull up Outdoors Al and then regulations...it's down aways in with a bunch of commercial fishing regs...it is NOT a commercial fishing reg.

All land in Alabama is considered Posted unless it is abandoned and not being used for some purpose. I don't know of any land in Alabama that isn't being used for some purpose be it timber, investment, or recreation. If you accidentally cross the line between your property and another's, you might not get a ticket, but if you have no land in the area, you will lose in court. In this case, the OP admits that he knows the land/pond does not belong to his friend so if he goes fishing and does not have permission to do so or the pond isn't open to the public, he is Trespassing. It doesn't get any plainer than this.
All land posted refers to "hunting without permission" has nothing to do with tresspassing. From an Alabama attorneys website Criminal trespass second-degree involves a person who knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a building or upon some real property which is fenced or enclosed in such a manner that it is designated to exclude intruders. Criminal trespass second degree can occur when a person trespasses onto private property which is posted with no trespassing signs. From a trespass second-degree is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine and a jail sentence not to exceed 90 days. Dont take this wrong but this is why I never answer Law enforcement's questions. It's the write ticket now prove later attitude. Once bit twice shy.

Maybe I missed it but is there a sign saying no fishing? If there is I’d just take it down.

criminal trespass 2nd includes a fence or signs to announce posting. 3rd would be climbing a fence or walking under the posted signs
criminal trespass 3rd does not, just knowingly entering onto premises/property. If you unknowingly cross the property line from a place you have permission to one that you don't then no criminal act. 3rd would be driving across the city to some lake that you have no permission on any land adjoining it and going onto the property that you damn well know ain't yers....
purple paint law is posting the land against trespass....not hunting
all land in Al is posted by law, with or without signs, against hunting without landowner permission...no trespassing. You can get a ticket for trespass AND hunting w/o permission for the same offense.
you can be arrested for fishing on private property without permission if posted. You could be arrested for criminal trespass3rd without the signs or 2nd with the signs.

A person commits criminal trespass in the third degree by: 1. Knowingly entering or remaining unlawfully on any real property after a reasonable request to leave by a law enforcement officer, the owner or any other person having lawful control over such property, or reasonable notice prohibiting entry.
