Looking for suggestions on a good comfortable pair of shoes or boots for standing/walking on concrete all day. I wear ariat cowboy boots most days but I'm taking a new job that will have me on my feet most of the day and I need some shoes that will help keep my legs/knees from feeling like death after standing all day. What do you guys prefer?

concrete's an absolute be-otch! i used to do a lot of trade shows back in the late 90's & it was hard as nails to find comfortable shoes ... IF you can get away with NOT wearing boots, my advice would be to find the most cushioned shoe you can, and then put in those Schoel's (sp?) work boot inserts ... something like a canvas hiker from UA or Merrill or something like that -- if it's cushioned enough -- would be "work" enough ...

just my $0.02 ...

I've been wearing Timberland pro slip ons for about 5 years now. No break-in period, comfy right out of the box. Model#89652, I get them a half size larger so your foot fits thru the neck of the boot. We're required steel toe with metatarsal. I would think they come without the metatarsal.

I only buy boots with vibram soles. Makes all the difference in the world.

I recently purchased a pair of Dr Marten's steel toe. They are wonderful. I also like Carolina brand. Those 2 have been my favorites.

Do they have to be boots or steal toe?

As of right now, no. They can be boots, tennis shoes, or whatever else. They are talking about going steel toe for everyone but I don't know how far out that it. My main goal is to be as comfortable as possible.

I teach 5th and walk 7-9 miles a day at school. Floor is concrete with cheap commercial grade carpet. I have Skecher and Merrell shoes I wear with best inserts I could buy. Really saves my back, legs and feet.

I got a pair of Redback Great Barrier boots last year after reading about them on another forum...my next pair of work boots will be the same thing. They are very comfortable, and I am walking on gravel/rock and concrete/pavement most of the day at the plant I work in.

Vibram soles does the trick for me as well!! I usually were a danner boot, but our company made us start suing a red wing store. I first tried the Irish setter marshalls but for some reason I cant do cowboy style boots on concrete, they kill my outer ankle!! I am in some red wings with Vibram sole and they are comfy!!

I've got a pair of Boar's Hide slip on loafers from Duluth Trading company that I wear everyday. I wore them for a year when I was working and I still wear them at my part-time job now. I've had them for almost 4 years now and they still look great and are very comfortable. If these ever go down, I will certainly buy another pair. Easily the best pair of shoes I've ever had.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Just a comfortable pair of Nikes or Adidas.

If they have to be safety-toed, the timberland pro shoes or Reebok shoes are most comfortable. They both have composite toe.

Never had any Brooks until I found the Ghost 10 new style Ghost 11. Must have tried over 30 pair of shoes on and ended carrying Nike Air Max and their other styles back. Seems Nike just don't have bounce like it did in the 90's and is mostly for looks. Sure wish they would bring back old style air bags with the dual air pouches those things would help on concrete for sure. Had the Brooks over a year with no special insoles seems almost like new still. Most just do not fit right for me like these do and will not hold up on concrete.

Best boot I have had in last 10 years is Timberland Pro Helix Wellingtons. Amazon for around $130-180. I have literally wore the leather out before the sole went.

Timberland pro! Titan xl. Best comfortable work boots i ever had. I been buying these for 8 years. They are ugly and are hiking boot style but they work wonders. Sexton Shoe in huntsville carries them for $185 plus tax but give work discounts that cost me $120 plus tax. They will give anyone that discount. Order some. You will be amazed!

I bought a pair of Danner ultra light's about 3 months ago ( first pair of Danner's I've owned ) and I have to say they are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn with 2nd place being way on down the line. Expensive - yeah. Time will tell if they hold up or not, but as of right now I'm super pleased with them.

I wore Merrell Moab's for years before I got these and still have 2 pair now. I don't put them on though. I wear these Danner's every time.

Yep. Merrell's Moab 2 for me. I walk an average of 6 miles a day with work. From concrete floors, asphalt & concrete lots, turf of all kinds and the woods.
