STAY AWAY FROM CEDAR CREEK HUNTING CLUB.... (Brent, AL) I will apologize early for the long post and how it’s all jumbled up! But I feel like I should express my opinion, especially seeing the president tried to block me on social media hoping I wouldn’t be able share with the public!!!

This past weekend my dad and I pulled our final belongings out of that club or should I say the stuff that wasn’t stolen from us! YES, you saw that right! We weren’t the only members that had multiple SD cards stolen from our cameras... eventually that guy was caught red handed on camera. When this issue was addressed with the president, he did absolutely nothing because it was his buddy!

The club is advertising looking for two members... Well I’m 1 of 9 members that left the club! Technically “Shane Wheeler the club president” kicked me out! I asked why and he couldn’t give me a legitimate reason or show proof of any rule I broke! To top that all off he lied to me and said they took a club vote. By “club vote” he meant him and his buddy (William) because everyone I’ve spoke to had no clue about it! Finally his so called reasoning of kicking me out was I went to check a camera the last night of the season at 6:30 pm for a member who had open heart and hadn’t been able to hunt all year! So this got me kicked out, but his buddy (William) was on camera all season long doing this and he got a free pass!

I’m not saying the president is a bad guy, i’m just saying is he is scared of confrontation, he is scared to enforce the rules, he has no respect or common courtesy of other hunters space (hanging cameras 50 yards from mine) If it convenients him or his buddy (William) they will do whatever they want, whenever they please including running the roads. Another example changing the rules mid season without any type of vote! Personally I don’t think he has what it it takes to properly manage or run a club. His mentality is “I signed the lease so I’m going to do whatever I choose” so basically the rules only apply to others for the ones who paid the lease!

Most the trail cam pics you see being advertised came from my camera or my dads. Funniest thing about all of this is before, We could even get all of our cameras/stands out Shane and his buddy had already started hanging their cameras/stands on the exact spots we had our cameras/stands... I SAW 17 deer ALL SEASON! I hunted 19 days strait in December and saw the same fawn twice (only deer I saw during the rut) This club had 16 members and killed 11 deer total 3 bucks (2 of those bucks my dad killed and he isn’t even getting back in) My dad and I provided 22 stands for that club.... Those stands have been removed! So Not only did over half the members go, 50-65 percent of the stands left also!

So after reading everything above, if you like taking $1600 and throwing it out the window, then you have found the right club! If you like paying your dues for others to get a free range lease then again this club is for you!

Take my post with a grain of salt, because this is just my opinion, I’m simply just warning you what to expect!!

I’ve known Shane for 20 years…….He said you and your dad were kicked out because they have both of you on camera hunting the club property at night with spotlight and rifles in hand. Not only that but the neighbors have you two on camera trespassing and night hunting on their property too

Shane is not a member on here but I just got off the phone with him and told him that his club was being run down on here and how to sign up if he wanted to deal with it personally. He said that the reason he’s having to find so many new club members this year is because these bigbuckiller and his dad pissed off most of the other members by running around all over the property during hunting season checking chit loads of cameras and hanging new stands around where other folks were already trying to hunt.

If they are, this is them.

Does it sound like there may be a few cameras on that place or what? If they all had flashes still, John Travolta could dance out there to the strobe lights! LOL

Either Bigbuckkiller has already run or he will come back here and get the chit stirred up real good with some stupid comments before disappearing for good.

CNC- sounds like another lie being told by Mr. Wheeler, but since y’all are so tight ask him to share he photos of me hunting at night and if he doesn’t have them ask him to get them from the neighbors. Since I’m all over camera, I’m sure one of the 2 will have a copy right ?
Also if 9 members got out of the club for being upset with ME checking cameras, then why wouldn’t they stay when I got “kicked out” ???? Sounds a little off to me

I've seen piles of posts about this club on Facebook and now we've got a new guy and BassCat (a longtime respected member here) saying the same things so there's probably some credence to it. Someone is lying either way, but when it's 4-5 people vs 1, it's usually the 1. Jes sayin.

Cory isn’t telling any lies. In fact there is more that could have been posted like the president not signing out an area my son went to hunt only to have the president come driving his ATV through the middle of the green field because he was out moving stands which broke two rules right there. I can’t speak as for why everyone that left the club left, I can only speak for what I know as facts and I left because of rules mean NOTHING, my camera cards were STOLEN more than once and the presidents running buddy was caught doing it. I confronted the president and he did nothing about it. I got tired of checking my camera when I signed out that area to hunt and having pictures of a couple of the same people walking around at 7:00am and 4:00pm and all hours in between scouting. Who the heck scouts at 7:00am and 4:00pm! Also before I paid my money to join I asked if any turkey memberships were going to be sold. I was PROMISED NO! The weekend before bow season he had to confess he sold two or three. I also asked the president if he would enforce the rules on his buddies like I expected him to enforce on me. He said absolutely. Here it is turkey season and him and his buddy are out moving stands and calling for a work day this weekend totally screwing over the turkey hunters. Well bottom line is I was filled with nothing but lies just to get my money. Unfortunately there are many clubs out there that do the same just to get the money to pay the lease.

Like Cory said, he made this post just to warn anyone about how poorly managed this club was and let you know if you join, you may be pissing away $1600. I’ve had several pm thanking for the warning. I know one of the rule changes the president was going to make was NO cameras, period except for he was going to put out a couple. In my opinion it’s because he got tired of him and his buddy getting caught breaking the rules over and over. By the way, the presidents running buddy is also the person that owned the tractor used on the club so you can see another reason he didn’t want to kick him out.

Please quit the bashing and bad mouthing as this post was meant to just warn you. It was meant to help fellow hunters. If you want to join the club then go ahead and best wishes to you and everyone who hunts including the president and his running buddy. I’m not holding a grudge but continue to learn that when it comes to clubs I can’t trust anyone. Do as you wish. God bless!

Im not taking sides either way and usually there are 2 sides to every story and somewhere in the middle is the truth, but. Didnt I see in one of your posts either here or on FB you were already stating that you werent going back next year? if thats the case why does it matter if they told you membership is done after you announced publicly your intent to not come back?

this reminds me of something funny that happened to me this week. My wife was trying to apply for my Federal rebate for some ammo i bought. I was trying to forward a reciept through the walmart app. So i had to change my message app. A few minutes later i get a text saying "man it aint even hunting season, lol). Before i could change text app back, it had done sent some old pics to about 5 different people.

The whole club drama is another reason I’m rapidly losing interest in deer hunting . I get so annoyed with the drama of clubs that goes on. My days off to hunt would be nice if they were relaxing and fun instead or school girl drama filled

I was kinda surprised too when nobody called bullchit…..Folks were running and pulling drag though….hungry for some drama. The OP handled it well. I was kinda just testing the waters by messing with him to see if he might be one of those “Rock” types or possibly hunting free range in the big pen, etc.... It seemed like he may have actually had a legitimate gripe though so I pulled the plug before it got out of hand. I was ready to make some Aldeer gold though …….It was all just meant to be in good fun while things are slow.

Hunting solo eliminates the bullchit. It's quite enjoyable.

Seems like there should be away to check out new members before excepting them seems like every year a first year member stirs trouble and tries to bust up a club some even try to lease your land out from under you
