Baitcaster or spinning reel, I throw right handed and reel left handed. Nothing else makes sense to me.

There you go! I like to aggravate these guys, but I completely understand why right handed people use spinning reels with the handle on the left side. What I don't understand is why they use a bait caster with the handle on the right side. A standard bait casting reel is the only thing I can think of that is actually made for a left handed person. Throw left handed, reel right handed.

When I got my first baitcaster way back in the early 80's, my friend convinced me to buy a "left handed" reel, explaining that it made the most sense. Being an engineering student, I agreed. I shared my equipment with my son and now that's what he fishes. I can cast and control the rod with my power hand and reel with my weaker hand.

Right handed people that fish with "right handed" baitcasting reels are lemmings, there, I said it smile

I'm a righty, and for a spell of a few years there I made myself cast right (baitcaster) and reel left, just to save time by not switching hands back and forth. I got pretty accustomed to reeling lefty but never did feel comfortable setting the hook with with my right hand. Eventually gave that up and went back to the ol switcheroo.

For spinning reels I cast right and reel left.

i was about to call you a tard until i realized that Iโ€™m left handed and fish right handed. I have no qualms about holding my spinning rod in my weak hand though.
