A bill presented to get the State of Alabama out of the liquor wholesale business didn't even make it out of committee.

Think about the alternative scenario: the state not being in the liquor business, but wanting to get in. That would be ridiculous, and everyone would agree.

So, who in Senator Orr's circle owns liquor stores and would profit from this?

I'll continue to purchase liquor from other locations...for religious purposes. Alcohol Arbitrage. The AlabamaBoozeCartel can crawl in a hole and die.

The State needs to be out of the liquor business.

Agreed. Half a gallon of Jack Daniels was $65 locally. $40 if you go to Florida. Many folks in Baldwin County go to Florida solely for lottery tickets and alcohol. You also don't have to pay sales tax on food in Florida.

I did not know this, but, then, I rarely go to Florida.

unfortunately, even if we could ever get the state out of the liquor biz we would still pay more than the neighboring states. Because they will tax the hell out of it then...because they aint gonna give up no dollars. Thats for sure

I can buy a 1.5 L bottle of Tito’s tomorrow for $28. Sometimes they have a $3 coupon on top of that. In Alabama it would be almost double.

I usually cross the border over in to Georgia and go to Warehouse Liquors and by booze when I'm up at the cabin to stock up.

ABC stores are the stupidest thing.

Imagine Costco pricing.
$19 for a 1.75L of Kirkland "Crown Royal". In Alabama, you would be looking at like $65ish.

The AlabamaBoozeCartel is a black eye on the state.
