I have been wanting one of these for a while. I might have found a good deal on one with transmission problems. Does anyone know much about these? I wonder if this would be like a transmission on a tiller or other mowers.

It has a 15hp Kawasaki on it. It looks to be about 15 years old. I have never owned a Kawasaki like this. Is that a good motor?

Kawasaki are bullet proof if half way taken care of. Most of your quality commercial lawn equipment will have a Kawasaki or Honda. My preference was always Kawasaki

Using my fingers and the power of Google I was able to locate the owners manual for the DR all terrain field and brush mower with 15hp Kawasaki. On page 33 where it deals with “transmission” it says the transmission is maintenance-free and needs no lubrication. Also shows how to adjust the belt if needed. I imagine it is much like a rear-tine tiller but without knowing what your unit’s possible malfunction is I cannot offer further assistance. Interestingly, even if I did know what the problem was I still couldn’t help you.

I understand. I was able to Google and find the manual and some of the parts. I think I'm going to roll the dice and get it if it's cheap enough. This thing would be awesome for making and maintaining trails in the woods and for a few other clearing projects I have.
