I went and listened this morning and pulled a camera card at another spot, I heard 2 or 3 different birds gobbling pretty good so I probably won’t sleep very well tonight anticipating tomorrow. I think I’ve got a good bead on where they were roosted, whether or not they roost in same spot tonight is the question.

Well He was roosted in same area as yesterday. I made a dumbass call on where to set up on him. I sat up in the V of the logging road leading to a long greenfield in a bottom. Thinking they would walk the road and go to field. Instead the 3-4 hens flew down into the woods about 75 yards away and flanked me along with the gobbler. I belly crawled to check field and sure enough he was blew up strutting in middle of the field about 200 yards away. I looped around to get to where I thought they’d be but they just vanished. Gobbled about 5 times on roost and never gobbled again on ground. I freaking knew they would end up in that field , I’m kicking my own ass for not going straight there and setting up insted of the roadbed. If he does what he did today- tomorrow morning he will die

I wonder where BC_Reb is? I dropped by his house on Sunday and shot the bull with him for a little while. He and another buddy were hunting together this morning. Y'all ain't got to worry about that ol boy..... he's going to have 3 birds for y'all.

Congrats on all the kills guys, I’ve been working 12 hour night shifts and trying to hit a few mornings after work but it’s been tough. I got a shot on one this morning but boogered him up and he flew off. It’s eating me up . I’ve got a new spot real close to my house , gonna try in the morning, I’ve never hunted it before but ariel views look like it could hold a bird or 2. A little 120 acre tract the landowner gave me permission to turkey hunt it if I’ll take him deer hunting on my club a few times. Uh yeah sounds like a deal to me .

I think I’ve been jinxed by the turkey gods, after I knocked down the first bird on the second day of the season it’s been nothing but bad luck since . I’ve been on birds about every hunt but anything that could go wrong has, just a few things different and I’d be limited out. I’m headed out west to Oklahoma Saturday maybe those Rios will cooperate better than these dang hilly pines Alabama birds.

I killed a nice Rio in Oklahoma this morning. The guys that hunt the ranch said this bird has whooped them for 2/3 years and were glad somebody finally killed him. He was an old smart bird that would gobble every now and then and run the opposite direction. Chased him from right after daylight to about 11:00 when I finally got a bead on his head. I’ll try and get some pics up later. 10” beard. 1 1/8” spurs and 22.4 lbs . He had a big ol softball head and neck on him I couldn’t hardly get my hand around. When I breasted him out he had a lot of fat on him so I’m thinking he’s prob the oldest bird I’ve ever killed. I been messing with these Oklahoma boys about how it took a Bama boy to come out here and kill him 😆

Got parked on the club this morning and made the long walk across about a 100 acre 5 yr old cutover where on the other side drops off into some hardwood creek bottoms where birds like to roost. I’m listening at daybreak and only hear one bird gobbling and he’s way back across the cutover and close to the road. He sounded like a hot bird but damn it was gonna be a journey to get over to him. So I decided even though nothing gobbled down in the bottom I was gonna set up- call and be patient for a hour since I knew they liked the area, and if I struck out Id walk back to truck and go to another gate to chase the one I heard at daylight. Well nothing happened for the hour so I got up and headed out of the bottom, got to top of hill at edge of cutover and yelped a few times as a shot in the dark and one hammered prob 75 yards away. I started into the woods toward him and was standing there trying to decide to close the distance a little more or setup . It didn’t look like anywhere good to set up so I took another step or two in the direction I heard him and outta nowhere he hammered just out of sight all on top of me. I hit the ground crouched with gun ready and he just appeared through the old grew up firebreak and went into strut about 25 yards as I got the bead on his neck and smoked him. It happened so quick but a awesome hunt. If the woods hadn’t been so greened up now I’d never got that close without spooking him. I got called back to work starting Thursday and will be working 6-7 days a week so my season most likely is over. It’s been fun.

Looking like I’m done for the season. I didn’t even get to hunt the last week of the season, been workin 7 days a week. I Looked at getting a trip up to Nebraska in May but just isn’t going to happen this year. We had a good team and I’m sure we’ll finish in the top few

I guess Mattice ended up striking out and ghosting us? I haven't seen or heard anything from him since season started. A sent him a PM a week or 2 ago and told him to come check in on the team. He said he would and was watching a couple gobblers. I’m guessing since he didn’t that he struck out.
