Bunch of Liars or Long Beard.

I'll start up in Crenshaw county in the morning. I've had a couple of gobblers working a field with a bunch of hens the last two weekends so I hope their are there tomorrow. The biggest problem I will have this year is around 30-40 jakes working all the fields in groups of 10-15. They can run off gobblers if they start acting up.
I hope everyone shows up but it's hard to get a team that are all hard core turkey hunters. Out of the 46 days to hunt I'll hunt over 30 of them if I can find the birds. The hunting club to south of me lets me have the key to their gates because they don't turkey hunt and they are all from Florida.

Man it sounds like you have a pretty sweet setup! I hope those jakes don't run around boogering you up! But on the bright side lots of 2year olds next year! I have a lease close that I have some birds on. I have a pack of roving jakes also, not nearly as big as yours though. They are usually going pretty good and this morning I heard 3 or 4 and the one across the river was ready to die. He was acting like a crazy kamikaze 2yo. I hunt the forest and a few wma's near the house. So hopefully I can find a few to cooperate.

Let's go with, A Bunch of Liars, since that's really what all turkey hunters are! Especially when someone starts asking about turkeys! Lol

I’m good with a bunch of liars too. I’ll be hunting my place in Russell county and probably go with a few buddies a time or two as well. I’ve got a few turkeys around, a handful of longbeards and a few jakes on camera. Our numbers are down from where they used to be but I hope to kill a couple birds at least. I’ll be after them in the morning

I’ll be on a pheasant hunt tomorrow then chasing longbeards in Dallas county Sunday did good there last year so let’s hope for a repeat good luck to all the guys going in the morning

Not a peep for me this morning, I about walked my legs off. It was a beautiful morning but rough as far as the turkeys.

I roosted 2 yesterday evening and went back in this morning didn’t hear a peep then saw 3 hens this evening they haven’t started hard gobbling in Dallas yet hopefully after the weather we have this week they will be getting good next weekend

I didn’t do any good this past weekend. Gonna give it a try again in the morning. Hopefully I’ll get on one. Congrats on the kill Squadron, you didn’t waste any time.

FWIW, I like Bunch of Liars. Especially since I forgot to follow all the rules and didn't get a team sign or myself in the pic last Saturday. I hope y'all have a good season. I have no idea where to try next. I saw this turkey a week ago and he came in without gobbling. Tore a jake decoy up so that was good but I still have not hear a gobble this year yet.

Planning on going tomorrow and Saturday. But, my son will be home this weekend and he will be the first triggerman on Saturday. Going to a nice piece of property late next week and I’m hoping to post a 60+ point bird. Some old birds on the place and I hope they cooperate.

Hey Wade, I'm glad you made it. I have been everyday so far and most days I hear nothing and a few days they gobble like crazy. If they gobble tomorrow I will have time to go to them or wait them out. It should be a good weekend.

I went this morning and it was silence. I did call in a super jake though. Hope that they start getting with it this weekend. I’ll be in the woods Saturday and Sunday. Good luck fellas!

I’m headed to union springs to try a buddy’s place this morning. They usually have some birds and nobody has been out there since deer season, so I’m optimistic

On the board boys. Somebody check my entry and make sure I done it right please. I like to have never figured out how to post a picture and it still might not be right, so somebody let me know please

I got another one this morning. They were gobbling everywhere this morning. I got in to tight on a couple on the roost and just had to let them pitch down and walk off before I could move. I went to a field on the hill and called them into about 80 yards but they hung up. Some hens started cutting in the bottom and they went off to them so I waited a few mins and cut hard to see if they would come back. 10 mins later a gobbler and hen came out behind me and the hen walked right by me but couldn't figure out what I was but she knew something was wrong. I took a shot at the gobbler through some limbs at 40 yards and missed. I went and checked a few more fields and didn't see anything so I put out a decoy and started calling and about 45 mins I had this bird come right to me for an easy shot. He was walking to my left and I hit him in the back about 8" from where I was aiming. I checked my gun on the way out and I'm shooting about 8" to the right so I'll have to shot by backup gun until I can set my sights. This was the first day the birds were broke up and scattered so now in the best time to kill birds where I'm at.

Got it done not much scor was a 52 but gotta start some where got him in a hardwood bottom at 5 steps cane in gobbling and drumming

Good job and congratulations y’all. Hens had both birds I heard this weekend all tied up. Good news is at least I finally heard a gobble this year. Dang hens were flying in like somebody was having a Black Friday sale at Walmart.

Great job fellas! I have been in the woods and have about walked my legs off. It has been painfully quiet with almost zero gobbles. I did call up a super jake yesterday morning, he did his best to give me a gobble but that’s it. It’s been rough but I’m a glutton for the punishment! Keep up the good work Guys!

Congrats to the killers. It’s been slow for me, I’ve been 3 mornings and haven’t sat down and called to a bird yet. Finally heard a few gobbles this past weekend so hopefully things are starting to heat up.

I am going in the morning for the next four days. I took off today to hunt and was supposed to go this morning but somehow ended up on daddy duty.

I just hope to find one that wants to act right and gobble. Good luck fellas keep smashing em!

Got it done this morning

Congrats...I didn't have any luck this morning but I checked my neighbor to the south and found 2 birds on a couple of his green fields. They don't turkey hunt so they gave me a key to their gate. One of these birds should be easy to kill with a good setup but the other one may take a little work. I think I can kill both in the next week.

I killed the easy bird this morning so now I will have to do a little work to get on the other bird. I going to have to get in between him and the hens or wait till the hens go to nest. I also heard another bird on my neighbors property that I may be able to get to one morning. All my birds seem to be 2 year olds so I need something to get an upgrade.

Y’all are wearing them out! Congrats on the kills. My turkeys have finally showed back up or maybe they have just decided to start gobbling. Either way, I’m hoping to have some luck soon now that they are finally talking. Good luck to you guys

Thanks Squadron, we’re all just trying to keep up with you. I’m glad to be able to contribute a bird (59 points). It was a fun morning, especially after how slow the first two weeks were for me.

Fellas I believe I have a full blown jinx working on me. Between every activity planned or not has just killed my hunting, soccer games, sick kids, work and crappy weather, it has been a struggle. Not to mention the lack of birds to work, I have sat down to two gobbling birds all season. I have called up a gobbling strutting jake, but I couldn’t bring myself to shoot it. I am still going and covering tons ground trying to locate some cooperative birds. Several places have all but shut down as far as gobbling. I’ll still keep plugging away, just hope I can turn my luck around somehow. Y’all are getting it done, I hope to have some points to contribute soon!

Bustinbeards, Hopefully it will turn around soon for you. I know how tough it can be when the turkeys don’t want to participate. My place was dead until April, then they decided to show up and talk a little bit. Maybe yours will do the same these next 2 weeks. It can change in a hurry

I almost pulled the trigger this morning. Birds came in on a string, gobbling good. They ran right into my lap and were so close I had time to study their beards and spurs. One was definitely a Jake and the other had about a 6 or 7 inch beard and spurs were bigger than any Jake I’ve ever seen but still fairly short and not very sharp. Decided to give him a pass. Still got some mature birds hanging around so maybe I’ll get another before season ends

I leave for Missouri tomorrow hopefully repeat last year and get us some big boys

Well guys, went this morning again and it looks like I have let you down. I can’t explain it, but I seemed to be cursed this year. I’ve hunted hard and walked miles and miles on multiple properties, I have sat down to two workable birds this season.

You fellas have been killing it! Congrats on having great seasons! I hate that I don’t have anything to contribute but I can assure you it’s not For lack of effort. It just has been a Very frustrating season for me, hopefully I can figure out this juju and get it gone!

Finished the season on a high note. These birds have whooped me the last few weeks. No luck early, but I found this bird a little before 7 and he was gobbling his head off. He knew better than to come looking for me but after 200 gobbles and an hour had passed, I guess he changed his mind.

Don't let it get you down. Two years ago I tagged out half way through the season and last year didn't kill anything. I was blessed with 3 early this year. There is always next year.

Don’t sweat it. We’ve all been there...or at least I have. Next year can only be better if this year was that bad. I’ll be pulling for you.
