Going to be picking up a lab puppy at the end of this week and am looking for some suggestions on kennels. Would like a Gunner or one of the new primos kennels but don't wanna fork out $600 on one.

I have a Ruff Tough large and it was plenty big for my 85lb lab and obviously overkill for my boykin. Its a great kennel and very well built. Only thing is it didn't have drain holes in the bottom so I drilled some myself.

I don't leave my kennel in the truck at all times. the sun fades them and just riding when dog is not in there .I have a tractor supple plastic seems to work great. I didn't like the heaviness of the more sturdier kennels.

This. I did leave mine in the truck a lot just because to take the dog out on a whim, I didn't want to load it and unload it. It faded a little bit but no big deal. Bought a $100 camo insulated cover to keep him warm and put a pad in the bottom to make it more comfy. You can spend $600 on a Gunner kennel if you want but Cooper didn't seem to mind the $99 one I got from Academy.

I really like my ruff tough too. It's roto molded, so it's gonna last.

Ended up going with a Dakota kennel. They had scratch and dent models for less than half a gunner as well as free shipping.
