I don't know all the workings of the Masons but I don't think they fit the definition of a cult, at least not what the FBI and other LE consider a cult. A cult is usually, but not always, formed around religious beliefs and the followers adhere to the dictates of one person.

The definition I posted isn’t my opinion, it’s literally the definition

“a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.”

Where did you get this definition from? I based what I taught in Intro to Terrorism from the definition used by the FBI.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

What's the difference between Mason's and Shriner's? One rides those tiny vehicles in parades....I know that....grin

My grandpa was a Shriner, but I only know that because of some pictures we have of him and he has the fez style hat on. He died when I was young so I never learned anything about it from him, although it doesn't sound like they give up much info lol

It's a worldwide brotherhood. I have had to go to South America for work and I was picked up by Shriners and welcome in their homes.

George Washington was a Freemason...

I believe that my grandfather and at least one of my uncles were Freemasons. I've always been interested, but I just figured that I probably wouldn't want to be a member of a club that would have me as a member. grin

Aren't Shriners a faction of the Masons? That is what I thought anyways.

This is the 4th time I’ve typed this because I’ve deleted it 3 times already. I did so because I’ve never pursued membership so I don’t know the inner workings of the organization. Nearly every man in my family, on both sides have been masons. I chose not to follow their path, along with two of my cousins. One of those cousins wanted to be a mason, like his father, my uncle, but his father blackballed him. His father, my uncle, was the text book definition of a pos. He was a womanizer, a thief, a deadbeat dad, and a useless member of society, and everyone knew it. The only reason his son wanted to be a mason was to try and be closer to his dad, to which his dad didn’t want because it interfered with his lifestyle. To listen to his fellow masons though, you’d have thought he was a saint. I knew then, either wasn’t much to them to cover for him or they were pure dumb a$$es. Either way it wasn’t a group I wanted to hang around. As I mentioned above, they are just like anyone else. Some are good people while some are pieces of crap. I find it interesting though that no one that has commented, and is a member, has agreed with that statement, but instead has only talked about how good and upstanding they are. Just like they did with my uncle.

My FIL was a mason and all I know about him was that he screwed up in his younger years which he freely admitted but I respected him fully before he left this earth.

My brother is a Mason and when we spoke about it he told me couldn't tell me anything about them. I just can't see joining a group that can't tell you about them until after you join. He is a good, intelligent guy though so I can be certain they are not a nefarious group.

I'm not sure about the nefarious part being all inclusive to they as a whole....

That’s kind of like Pelosi saying to hurry up and pass Obamacare so they could see what was in it. You see where that line of thinking got us.

You don’t ask what? I’m not following your statement in reference to my post. If you mean that you don’t ask people to join, then I knew that, but that has nothing to do with my statements.

If you are a Christian and you are thinking of joining the freemasons you should watch this before making that decision.
