Had my first one show up today. Maybe prolonged warm temps aren't far behind.

Put up another new pole 8 gourds this week, have a pole up with 8 gourds that were all full last year and I live in the middle of a subdivision. Have 58 houses and gourds at farm that have been full for last 5 years

Mother had her first two show up that same week. I saw five come in at roost time last Friday afternoon.

Curious as to what are y’all using to hang your gourds from poles? I use single strand 12 gauge coated copper wire. This long spell or rainy weather will be deadly for all the early arrivals.

I have never cleaned out a martin house ,gourd , or plastic gourd and I have had martins for over 30 years, but I do put a teaspoon of sulfur in each gourd ever three to four years this helps keep mites off the birds. I do have some friends that clean out there gourds, I use some Sevin dust every year.. Sulfur is so very caustic. It burns the piss out of the hatchlings skin if any moisture is present.
