I will be hunting Freedom Hills all day. I have snuck in this morning as quiet as possible to hunt some trails coming from a private land greenfield. The field is about 150 yards from me out of sight. These deer bed on the WMA. Hoping for a hot doe to lead this buck I have been after right into my lap. Very foggy this morning with zero wind and 60 degrees. Running out of time to kill this deer. Good luck y’all.

This afternoon I moved to a food source that is absolutely eat up. I usually hunt a greenfield about 5 times a year, so I’m out of my element. You can dang sure let one fly on this field, it’s huge. I don’t know if I’m slick enough to kill one of these educated deer? We will see......... I have scouted like hell today and very tired, but I’m on a ton of deer. Hope it pays off. [Linked Image]

Good luck JD. Hopefully these temps don’t have them shut down completely.

Seen one small doe. Rough day on deer sightings for me.

Tough day JD, but I bet you saw more on public land today than most any other person out there. When you have the time, you can get on them like no one else. I tend to start making things harder than they should be. Go back to the basics and think why they need to use a certain area. Good luck. I may have one more hunt in me, and I’m done. Going with the longbow this time (if I make it).

The problem with Alabama’s deer season is the rifle season is too long. These deer have been pressured since Oct 15. By the time the rut gets here in February the mature deer are nocturnal or stay in thick cover. Usually the people that consistently kill them are hunting gas or power lines with a rifle.
